I woke up at 3 am yesterday morning. It was a bleary-eyed, oh-God-I-fell-asleep-in-the-chair awakening. Everything ached. I pushed myself out of the chair planning to stumble to the bed for a few hours of real sleep.
I'd nodded off with the TV on, and blazoned across the TV screen was a banner that read "Bin Laden Dead". I thought, "Never heard of that movie before." Then a talking head was on the screen telling how Mr. Terror and his beard had both met their demise at the hands of Navy Seals and Army helicopters.
Fascinated, I plopped back down in the chair and listened for the next hour or so. In that time, images of cheering crowds flashed across the screen. Crowds at the White House. Crowds at Times Square. Crowds in front of Geraldo Rivera (his reason for living, haha).
A decade earlier, I'd also been watching TV on 9/11 when Obama's 2nd plane had crashed into the second tower. The perp had been brought to justice. Mr. Orangutan-beard had met Mr. Trained Seal. The Seal won. It seemed a great time to celebrate, so I thought, "Go be a part of those crowds. Go celebrate, man!"
So, I grabbed my coat, grabbed my hat and rushed out the door to hit the road to DC, the closest of those two Meccas of American Patriotism. (Pardon the pun, Mr. Floating Dead Guy bin Laden.)
Then I grabbed my wallet and looked inside. Short on cash. Had to find the ATM. How much would I need?
I'm not the guy who had ten kids that Obama condescendingly told to go buy a hybrid-passenger van that doesn't exist. Like one writer said, if this father was hurting to find the extra buck to pay for gasoline, he wouldn't be signing for a new hybrid van anytime soon. Even if it did exist, it'd be forty to fifty thousand bucks up front. (That's a lot of cash except for someone whose political party made him a multi-millionaire in two short years in the Senate.)
Like I said, I'm not that guy, but I am a guy who lives in the country where 4-wheel drive pickup isn't a luxury. In winter, it's a necessity just for getting out to the main road. The rest of the year, you haul stuff. (Thats what country-folk do.) So, I'm thinking, 15 or so mpg for a thousand plus mile round trip. That's pushing THREE HUNDRED bucks worth of gas at about $4.25 a gallon...after it jumped again yesterday because a dead bin Laden can potentially disrupt oil supply the same as a live bin Laden can. Wooaaahhh....Nellie.
I put on the brakes. "THREE HUNDRED Bucks JUST for gas...Just for a coupla lousy fill-ups!!" Thats the same as the payment on the damn truck.
Blasted politicians....blasted Obama. They've ruined everything with their gas price games!
I couldn't fill my gas tank to go to the "Dead bin Laden Celebration." I couldn't AFFORD it.
I texted my regrets to Geraldo.
I think he unfriended me.
Yep.
Excellently enjoyable ... thanx.
Recall the cry,"Bush! Cheney! Haliburton!" ? Last time gas prices were this high? Now silence of the media. Liars. Hypocrites. Hucksters.
Be sure to put a “We play games with gas prices” label over Obama’s picture on your gas pumps as you fill your tanks.
Emptying their wallet at the gas station will remind America shortly that Obama’s no daisy.
I watched a man fill up a Caddy, similiar to the one I owned. It cost him $147.77, which made me glad I had sold it instead of keeping it for a second car.
My pickup has a 30 gallon tank.
I though of getting a harness and buying a horse to pull it around.
Geraldo had the same problem.
My pickup has a 30 gallon tank.
I thought of getting a harness and buying a horse to pull it around.
I remember in 2008 summer watching dump trucks ( when we had a construction industry) just thinking almost 300.00 a fill up.
Freudian slip. LOL!
I reread that thing a dozen times and it never hit me.
Believe me...it was unintentional, but it’s funny now that I see it.
The trucking industry has to be getting killed with these prices.
They can do surcharges, but after a while the companies will just stop shipping as much because of the price and because the customers are spending all their extra cash on King Abdullah and Prince Barack.
Right on!
(check your spelling for the second plane though. It was Osama’s and not Obama’s)
You have pegged it!
$3.99 here in Drums PA!
see # 11...
mental block or something. I just didn’t see it.
thx
You and most of the MSM slipped on this.
Even Glenn Beck said, “Kill Obama...er...Bin Laden” on his show yesterday.
The Beck thread said that the lib media was going to grab THAT sound bite and run with it!
LOL, I understand your point. It was symbolic.
It’s easy to do....I think they’re kissing cousins.
Remember “Obama bin Biden” during the last election?
:>)
