Days later, some conservatives slam Obama for bin Laden mission

President Barack Obama was met with nearly universal praise immediately after the mission that killed Osama bin Laden, but as the dust settles, some on the right are now coming out swinging.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, whose initial reaction was clouded with ambiguity, slammed Obama yesterday, saying the president and the Democrats owe the country an "apology" for taking credit for Bush administration policies that led to bin Laden's killing.

"Virtually every tool, every apparatus, every technique, every policy used to effect a successful mission to kill Osama bin Laden was [campaigned against] by this current administration … and now they claim credit for being gutsy and courageous when none of this would have been available to them if they had their druthers?"

Fox News host Andrew Napolitano questioned whether "the government is telling us the truth or pulling a fast one to save Obama's lousy presidency," adding that Obama violated the law by ordering the mission that led to bin Laden's death.

"This business of the president deciding to kill people is very dangerous, and very unlawful," Napolitano said.

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer echoed the sentiment, defending the Bush administration's handling of terror suspects after the 9/11 attack.

"If Sen. Obama had been president at the time, it's quite likely we wouldn't have had this information [that led to bin Laden's death] and this result," he said.

And during a speech Monday in Colorado, Sarah Palin snubbed Obama, referring to him as "our president," thanking only the Bush administration by name.

"We thank President Bush for having made the right calls to set up this victory," she said.

Reps for Palin didn't return calls for comment.

Incontrovertible.

I doubt Gov Palin will show Mr. Obama any more deference than he extended to President Bush. I don't blame her.

Giving Obama credit for taking out OBL would be like giving Harry Truman credit for winning WWII. Yes, OBL death was on Obama’s watch. But Obama was president as intelligence came to light as to where he was. Are there any people who think this would not have happened if McCain was elected or Hillary was elected? It would have happened the same way it did. So Obama did what any president would have done. Nothing special here. No big contribution from Obama. He was simply in office when the intelligence came in.

Essentially Obama had two or three options when information came in as to where Osama was:

1)He could do nothing and let Osama get away. This would have leaked out eventually and would have destroyed his presidency. So this is not an option at all and Obama had to know this.

2) He could have leveled the building with an air strike thus killing Osama but also killing a lot of other people and possibly causing an international incident. These terrorists are famous for surrounding themselves with women and children. This option would involve the least risk for US personnel but would also have the negative of not having the body and we would not have the intelligence of the captured computers and disks. So this was ruled out.

3) Surgical Strike- This was the option taken and in retrospect the only viable option. It was a gamble and had the most risk to our special forces. It had the potential for a bad outcome. But it worked and Obama did the right thing.

But when you look at the options, there really wasn't much of a choice. So Obama doesn't get great credit for what he did. He did the right thing because there were few other options. That's not the spin the left leaning media is gonna put on it. They are gonna make him seem like the most courageous leader since Winston Churchill and the most courageous president since, Abraham Lincoln. Just wait and see.

1) Did not hurt Bill Clinton.
2) Did not hurt Ronald Reagan
3) BHO couldn't make a decision so after hours and hours, Peneta told him what to do.
You are giving BHO way to much credit.

Yeah, the writer actually did the snubbing by calling “our President” Obama. You’d think the sentence should have said,”Sarah Palin snubbed our president, referring to him as “Obama,”

It’s a BS title, because Rush did not “slam” Obama, he just correctly pointed out that Obama used all the Bush-Cheney policies and mechanisms in order to get him in stead of tearing them apart like he promised to do. Anyone who would deny that needs to go back and listen to what Candidate Obama said in every speech he gave.

I concur 100%, it was his only option. And apparently, he’s so “smart”, that he had to “sleep on it” overnight to “think” about it. Obviously to try to see if there was some way to not take him out, after the enormous multi-year operation to get the guy, and all the leadership is telling him it is go time, they’ve got him in there sights.

The other guess I have about him needing time to “think” (somewhere I read he just walked out) is to allow Jarrett & co. ( whoever his true advisor / backers / handlers are ) like union - commie bosses, etc., time to strategize and see how they want him to handle it.

If we only had the phone call lists and visitor lists from last week. Undoubtedly jarret is the chief go-between.

So I theorize that all those morons realized the obvious, he “spoke” with jarret the next morning who relayed the OK, then came in and said, ok, let’s go, banging his fist on the table. ?? That’s again what I read “somewhere”, sounded weird so it was probably true.

I think way too many in our government knew about all that practicing for the mission, the intel. Definitely hillary and State knew, and all her buddies. If binladin even gets away... if pakistanis are tipped - imagine that. Panetta, Hillary, etc., they would all be furious that they could have bagged him on their watch, but nobama calls it off ??? That would make A LOT of people in the gov’t and Navy / SEALS heirarchy very upset. I think it would have leaked out before the election. And that would give conservatives huge election fodder that - barry let him get away. WOW, he would look like a muslim in sheeps clothing.

I agree he could not say no just like you described.

Not bad. Here's mine:

Jon Gruden: Super Bowl = Hussein Obama: OBL.

(And it cost us our #1 draft picks for the next four years.)

...and here's one more sports fans:

Long, long, long ago when I was at best a so-so right fielder (and that ought to be the first clue) for the Badgers in Little League, I was at bat in a tense 9th inning on a tie game. I was told to just stand motionless at the plate (since the bases were loaded). The nervous pitcher got the count to 2-2 and then struck me with an errant throw. So, I was the guy who got the RBI for the hugh Badger win.

I think the analogy with BHO is self-evident.

Whoops! Error in prior post. The count was 2-0 when the errant pitch hit me. I never took a chop at the ball and didn’t even fake a bunt.

Just as with any team sport. My girl’s soccer team does a fist bump or whatever as a group after a goal. Most of the times it starts with a good defensive play.

And enough about how great and patient these scum-bag idiot terrorists are. We were developing Intel since 2003 on these particular couriers, etc. We can be patient as well.

You can run, but you’ll just die tired.
