Memphis Flood

I shot this image today. It's from just west of the I-40 MS River bridge, before the Arkansas truck scale. An old school bus (perhaps converted for hunting/camping) had been left on the I-40 access road. It's a good bet that it's beyond salvaging at this point. Anyway, it gives a good perspective as to just how bad the flooding is right now.

I was looking for pictures of fleeing snakes crossing the road ways and stuff like that.

Have you experienced any of this? How bout fleeing hogs?

Global cooling sucks, all that northern snow held back for weeks more than normal caused this, am sorry about that.

My new job has me in Memphis every other day (perfect timing, right?). I haven’t seen any fleeing hogs, but there are a lot of fleeing people.

Saw quite a few folks loading U-Hauls, pickup trucks, etc to save their stuff from the rising water. As I understand it the river is supposed to crest sometime tonight.

I reloaded today in Walnut Ridge, ARK and a lot of houses up that way (US 63 & US 67) are swamped. US 67 is closed 1/2 north of where I reloaded. I-40 is closed about 60 miles west of Memphis.

The flood would have reached Memphis anyway, but your point is taken. I've been to Cairo. It's an ok town, but I wouldn't sacrifice Memphis for it.

Hope not. I like Memphis. And this contract (delivering empty bottles to the Coke plant there) is making me some decent money.

How is this flood different than last years flood that made headlines? Didn’t the Mississippi flood in the ‘90’s?

Helluva flood in ‘93. But not this bad, although a lot of East St Louis got swamped.

Lots of folks swamped up around Trumann, AR, too.
