Sierra Club in Legal War to Stop All Expansion of Coal Power Plants
Capitol Confidential ^ | 5/18/2011 | Tom Gantert

Posted on 05/18/2011 8:48:33 AM PDT by MichCapCon

The Grand Rapids Press recently reported that the Sierra Club filed a lawsuit over a permit issued to a coal plant in Holland, Mich. The lawsuit claims that the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality ignored state regulations when it approved the Holland plant’s air pollution permit. What the article didn’t mention was that the Sierra Club files lawsuits against every coal plant in the United States that is issued permits either to expand or build.

“They are very proud of this strategy,” said Carol Raulston, senior vice president for communications for the National Mining Association.

Ann Woiwode, director of the Michigan chapter of the Sierra Club, verified that her organization does file a lawsuit on every permit issued to a coal plant. She said that is part of a bigger strategy to oppose coal as an energy source.

“Yes, we are challenging permits when they are issued,” Woiwode said. “We are working to move away from coal. … We need to recognize that coal is a costly, dirty fuel.”

We should call them the Dark Earth society since they oppose all forms of energy.

The left wants us to starve to death in the dark. Not unlike the Ukrainian victims of their spiritual leader, Josef Stalin.

It seems that the Sierra Club is very conflicted over COAL. The problem is that they don’t all believe in global warming, just the politics of global warming.

Maria Cantwell, The WA State Senator is a very active supporter of the Sierra Club and a founding member of the Apollo Alliance (what they like to call the Blue/Green Alliance), yet Maria Cantwell is working to facilitate the sale of soft bituminous coal, from the Powder River Basin, to China. She has even arranged for Carrix to build a coal terminal in China to receive the coal.

The Sierra club members who still oppose the coal are the grass-root members, the true believers, who have no political agenda beyond “saving the environment from global warming”. They are the same ones who fall for all the stupid PETA campaigns, like the one against the plastic softeners. They’re the people who “feel” rather than “think”.

The Sierra Club is a trial lawyer front group, nothing more.

It's about the $$$$$.

We really need a group of midnight raiders who will cut off the electricity to all Sierra Club facilities which receive power from coal, diesel, natural gas, hydro or nuclear power. Include Sierra Club directors and members.

Cut off wind power sourced electricity from the Audubon Club.

Cut off Hydro from the “free the rivers” crowd.

If these environuts completely lived off the land in the primitive manner of the indigeous populace maybe they would be credible.

Until then, they are just sickos from the “Horizon Corporation”.

Sierra Club, when your president sells his MANSION, his SUV and his modern things he lives with — AND MOVE INTO A CAVE — then you FOLLOW him into the CAVE, then maybe I’ll give you the time of day. In the MEANTIME — STFU!!

Like all liberals of any stripe - gays, feminists, eco-nuts - they are implacable. Nothing you do is ever enough.

Virtually all coal plants have very expensive scrubbers on stacks, plus most plants are burning very low sulfur coal now. Two things these econuts were screaming they must do.

Now that we all do that now they take this tactic.

It’s time to shut this bullsh1t down and expose them. I say start joining in to these groups as a fake member, get involved into the guts of the outfit, and start pulling out strategic and embarassing documents and start getting them out onto the internet and news outlets that will run the stories.

Add to that the eco-terrorist on the Sierra Club’s Board of Directors. That would be Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd.
