The Great Recession is sometimes known as the “Mancession” because men were hit so hard by unemployment, but a better term for it might be the “Black Mancession.”
While recent data show white men are finding more job opportunities than they did last year, black male job seekers are still in an economic black hole. In April, the jobless rate among adult white males was 7.9 percent, up from 4.1 percent three years ago but down from 9.3 percent in the same month last year.
Compare that to the jobless rate of 17.0 percent among black men, down from 17.7 percent a year ago but more than double the rate of 8.4 percent three years ago.
“Since the 1920s the two-to-one ratio has defined black-to-white unemployment in the U.S.,” said Charles Gallagher, chair of the sociology department at La Salle University in Philadelphia. But, he added: “This recession has been particularly hard on black men.”
A continued hemorrhaging of jobs in urban areas, a decline of jobs that pay well but don’t require lots of education, and a decline in government jobs in cities, , have all combined to hurt black males, he said.
Losses in good-paying manufacturing jobs also have hit black men hard, said Harry Holzer, author of “Where Are All the Good Jobs Going?” and public policy professor at Georgetown University.
Even though we’re in a recovery, he said, “it’s been very, very slow, and back men are showing the least progress with little sign so far that unemployment rates are improving.”

Maybe they should blame that on Obama and his allowing half the Mexicans in Mexico to come across the border and get them. They voted for him.
Thank you Great Society. Destroyed our cities, decimated our manufacturing base and essentially wiped out the black nuclear family. Think there's a connection to the problems the current generation of black males are having?
And this: "a decline in government jobs in cities", a stupid statement indicating a liberal belief the government "creates" jobs.
True, most of those millions were black females, but you never know, someone may come up with a different government jobs focus that leans towards male employees. Something like a huge infrastructure repair program or maybe a rebuild the cities effort like the “urban renewal” projects that bulldozed the black middle class in most cities into oblivion. The fascist democrat party only has a few tricks but they seem to have been able to use them over and over without anyone catching on, so, it's about time for a major “Great Society” style effort along with a draft. Of course, we know Barry wants to draft people into a huge civilian force as big and well funded as the military, so maybe it's time for Barry to do what he does best and try to get everyone to go along with his delusion rather than bothering with the real world. After all, messin’ with the real world isn't working out so well for him anyway.
If I'm right about what Barry and the democrat fascists have in mind, then making Cain look like a joke will be the major concern of the media for the next few weeks no matter who else announces. The last thing the fascists need is some black guy with real credentials running against the faux credentials of Barry.
PS - "Barry and the Fascists", Barry on vocals, Rahm on drums, Hillary with a tambourine, Bill on sax, hmmmm. Put them all in Federal prison and let them perform for the inmates on funky feet Fridays or something while pretty boy Edwards dances nude (but with well grommed hair) in a cage above and behind them.
When Bush was president all the press would report is how bad things were. Now that this country its ten times worse off all the press WILL do is report how wonderful things are getting and are going to be.
Black culture today is a direct result of LBJ's social engineering which has resulted in the nearly total destruction of black two parent families. Now there's your problem.

Actually they do create jobs for Black men. Or should I say that they redistribute income from Private sector workers in order to overpay minorities to do jobs that would pay half the amount they get paid if they worked in the private sector.
IE: government union Bus Drivers for a Metro bus company $80K year + $35K benefits package. . Bus driver for Greyhound $45K. Local garbage collectors City Worker $30. Hr BFI $15-18.50HR.
The tables are turning. Government workers are going the way of the buggy whip, ALL of them. It will take one large city in this country to lay off all its’ city employees and put all their jobs p for bid and all the cities will follow.
I mean all of them including the safety forces.

The great society can’t really explain things that happened in the last two years, such as the failure of black men to regain jobs as relatively quickly as they did after past recessions.
Better explanations: more Latinos to compete for new unskilled and semi-skilled jobs, more Latinos, Asians, and black women to compete with for skilled and professional jobs with affirmative action policies, fewer of the new jobs being the reactivation of unionized jobs where recall from layoff rules apply, and the far greater use of background checks which flag criminal records and bad credit histories than was prevalent in the recovery from the last recession. Interestingly, liberals are trying to curtail both forms of background checks.

You are correct. The dems see this in the future, and are shoring up their bets. A couple of months ago, before Rahm took office here in Chicago, the Chicago City Council passed a law, that it would take an 80% majority of the city council, AND the mayors endorsement to give any current city job to a private company. They know damn well that would never happen, a simple majority? perhaps, but not likely, but an 80% majority AND mayoral approval? No way in hell, not for 100 years.
I have heard other dem strongholds across the country are enacting similar laws to protect the unions. They are gaming the field, they know they are about to suffer losses and conservatives are taking over the states to put things in order (WI, IN, etc), and are making damn sure that those conservatives who win, will be powerless to move these jobs to the private sector.
Until we start worrying about those elections that seldom get covered (namely the courts), these laws will continue, and those who are elected are going to find a very hard, if not impossible task of fixing things.
IMO the courts are now the number 1 priority in America. The leftists have known this for a long time, while the conservatives have ignored the election and appointments of judges, putting blind faith in our judicial system. Only those few who are involved in politics (like those here) actually understand how the game has been rigged by left, the average viewer of Dancing With the Stars had no idea.
He recently hired a guy from Iraq and one from the Congo...he said both knew exactly how long to work to qualify for food stamps and unemployment...both quit when that time arrived. The Black guy arrived in the US with seven kids, as a refugee.

Black men had a lock on baggage handing jobs at LAX, and they paid well. Mexican illegals working for next to nothing took those jobs years ago. Open borders started well before Obama, but he has only aggravated things.
