House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Monday that he would like to see House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan run for president in 2012 and suggested that any candidate considering a 2012 bid should embrace the Wisconsin Republicans budget plan to cut trillions over the next ten years.
Sure, Cantor replied enthusiastically when asked if he would like to see Ryan jump into the race against President Obama. Pauls about real leadership. I think that thats what this public so desperately wants to do right now. They want to see Washington that will lead. They dont want to see individuals that will dismiss the current problems as something that we can just sweep under the rug.
Cantor joins a growing number of high-profile conservatives who have suggested that Ryan would make for a strong candidate against Obama in 2012. One of his predecessors, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, said as late as Sunday that its time to start drafting Paul Ryan for president.
Ryan said during an appearance Sunday on NBCs Meet The Press that he has no plans to run.

The two main TARP supporters in the house, the two new beltway boys.
FUEC.
he voted with democrats..he got con-fussed
Puleeeeze.
What happened to governing on the mandate of 2010?????
Just get the spending cuts done in the debt ceiling increase and PROVE you wont sell us out before you tout your budget guy for a race he will NOT run in.
We do not need to run our entire Republican bench, for Heaven’s sake.
We need leaders in Congress, as well, no matter who wins as POTUS!
Good point. Or even better just refuse to increase the debt ceiling and the spending cuts will take care of themselves.
An ordinary guy in the street prognosticator that I know swears that Jeb is going to appear at the right moment to save the day for the GOP.
Cantor is a proRomney/anti-Palin man.
Just watched Cantor speaking at AIPAC yesterday.
Compelling and well received.
I always thought that was a distinct possibility. I know a lot of people in Florida who absolutely hated W, but would have voted for Jeb if he ran for POTUS.
Cantor wants to be Speaker..He fears that Ryan might get the job...
That’s funny. Just the kind of personal thing that might be true.
Ryan is almost the perfect candidate. He has not been perfect on all his votes (bailouts for GM, TARP)but he has so many other strengths.
1. Articulate- in spades. Great ability to explain issues to the public and conservative principles in general.
2. Courage- his budget bill, no one else has even offered a similar bill. Not tripped up by the Leftists liberal hacks of the MSM (eg Gregory)
3. Intellect. Knows his subject right down to the last stat. He has a strong grasp of economics (economic major) and would kick zero in any debate
4. Political experience. Over 10 years in the House and now budget chairman. Not as ideal as governor of 2+ terms, but not as bad some others in the GOP field.
5. Good demeanor. Does not come off as angry or anxious.
Good appearance, charismatic. He kind of looks like a Kennedy (which could attract the superficial voters).
6. Moral. Good character. As a south eastern WI resident, I have not heard of any skeletons in his closet. He also is conservative on social issues.
This guy needs to be drafted this year. He SCARES zero to no end. He would unite many factions (TP and establishment) while advancing the conservative agenda
What about Rick Perry?
Don't worry, the chances of him being elected is zilch. The "party people" really don't understand what the Bush name means nationally.
If Palin doesn't run, I could see it happening, with Palin's endorsement.
Maybe he knows full well he couldn’t win but wants to get him out of his hair.
Yes...I always look at motives especially when crap like this gets spouted by a RINO. As if he really supports a TP conservative.
I don’t like Cantor, but Ryan is the strongest person the Reps can run against Obama. He will win if he runs.
