Why is this portly "gentleman" with the scraggly beard and the baseball cap - I am assuming that he's deaf - signing the ASL word for "German?" That is a "Pickelhelm" (spiked helmet) he's signing, isn't it?

FWIW, Spanish isn’t a bad second language to learn because about 1/3 of the world’s populations have Spanish influence, and whereas if one found themselves in a foreign place other than Spanish speaking, it is probable to also find English speaking locals, but this is not always the case in the Spanish speaking cultures.
It also gives some immigrants cause to pause, when you overhear them speaking derogatorily about US citizens and several moments later before departing, calmly mention, in Spanish ,that many Americans speak fluent Spanish.

I’ve yet to see anything that beats the “Cat Lovers Against The Bomb” bumper sticker I spotted on a Volvo in the parking lot of the local WalMart. I had to look that one up when I got home to see if it was a joke.
