Some Truth About Fox News Viewers, For Jon Stewart's Misinformation
The Looking Spoon ^ | 6-21-11 | Jared H. McAndersen

It's fairly well known by now how Jon Stewart gave a big hug to Fox News viewers...

(Video where he says Fox News viewers are "misinformed" is embedded at the original post here)

So he huffed, and he puffed, but did he blow the house down?

If the Fox News response to this (here) isn't convincing enough then today Politifact, not exactly a lapdog for the right, says........no.

They rated his claim "false," which according to their rating system, leaves no room deference to Stewart that he is even a little right.

He's a sharp guy, very sharp....like, a hot knife to Biden's brain sharp. So I'll soften how wrong he is by using Jonny's own scapegoat...he's just a comedian. That's what he says every time somenone tries to hold him accountable for the bent he takes with his own work. He's just a comedian, therefore he deserves no credibility.

A broken shot glass holds more water than that excuse.

Humor only works if it lives in truth. So it's impossible to not give someone who is successful at making people laugh at the news credibility, because it has to be laced with opinion and commentary that lives in reality (or rather, the reality that a certain political point of view provides), and it rises in people's consciousness because its being presented to them in a fresh way that they probably would never see it.

He thinks he gets that credibility because the news media fails to do their job and that he's being sucked up in some kind of vacuum, as opposed to it being a reflection how seldom his viewers probably consume other media. For them, when "The Daily Show" is on it's time to watch the news.

For Stewart to say he is only trying to entertain people is something that Politifact could award their lowest rating, "pants on fire."

They rated his claim “false,”

Doesn’t matter , he said it on air , it’s on YouTube , it’ll be a “fact” for tens of millions of his viewers no matter what the truth is ..

He did not say they are “misinformed.” He said that they have the most misinformed viewers. I’ll grant that is true. They’ve got 95% of the viewers, and the other channels split the remaining 5%, so of course, they have more misinformed viewers than the other channels. I would also add that they are mainly liberal Democrats.

Stewart came off as a mean, nasty, and petty little bully.

Wallace let the ‘statement’ that Fox is right-biased and none of the MSM has any left bias whatsoever stand.

Wallace could have asked, “who in your opinion has left bias?”.

i wish he would have. would’ve loved to hear the answer.

I keep hearing from liberals that the stimulus prevented a “much worse” economy. What is that based on? If 800 billion was spent on “jobs” shoudn’t we be seeing SOME of that activity? New roads, repairs being done, businesses opening, etc.? I don’t know anywhere this is happening. This argument always seemed like BS to highest degree. You could also say that the stimulous spending caused fewer hurricaines, or much less bad breath for that matter. Another liberal says that repealing Obamacare will increase the deficit by 230 billion over 10 years. WTF? So Obamacare only “costs” 23 billion per year, then? How does spending trillions “save” 230 billion dollars? My head is exploding over trying to understand this “reasoning”.

B.S. He's a lib. How sharp can he be? Not very. Libs are by definition horribly stupid, unable to see the world around them and recognize reality or cause and effect. Yeah, maybe he's "smart" relative to Biden, but that's as legitimate as comparing the intelligence of a badger to a rock, and it certainly doesn't make the badger a genius by any stretch.

In this case I didn’t mean intelligent so much as I meant quick witted. Watching the interview I didn’t get the sense that his views were any more insightful than the typical liberal tripe they all recite...but he is much better at responding, and doing it cleverly, than most of his cohorts.
