In the industrial past, much of our manufacturing was quartered in the Northeast and in the northern Midwest. Colt, Remington, Smith and Wesson were all from the NE. Sort of inertia at work, although we may develop armsmaking in the South eventually.
Yeh - I’d love to be able to snag one of those. Little out of my price range, though.

As you note, we’re getting there. We could use some ammo factories.
