The coming week marks five years since the murder of Pamela Waechter. Who? If the name doesn't ring a bell, here's a brief reminder: She was shot in the head by Naveed Afzal Haq, as she tried to crawl down a flight of stairs and escape, after Haq shot her in the chest.
Still not jogging your memory? How about this: Waechter was the 58-year-old director of the annual campaign of the Jewish Federation of Seattle. Sometime around 4 PM, on July 28, 2006, Naveed Afzal Haq grabbed a 14-year-old girl and thrust a gun in her back. He used her to gain entry to the Federation, and then rampaged through the building, shooting six women -- Layla Bush, Christina Rexroad, Cheryl Stumbo, Dayna Klein (who was five months pregnant), Carol Goldman, and, fatally, Pamela Waechter. Tammy Kaiser jumped from a second-story window to escape, and was hospitalized with injuries.
What was Haq's motive? Well, here's an interesting clue: As he stormed through the halls, shooting and killing, he shouted, "I'm a Muslim-American! I'm angry at Israel!"
Quite a dramatic story, no? And yet it's not a story anybody wants to tell. Grab the average leftist on the street -- or, certainly, on campus -- and ask him about Rachel Corrie, the anti-Israel activist accidentally run over by an Israeli bulldozer. I bet he knows Corrie's story by heart; after all, our cultural grandees never stop pushing it as a "teaching moment" about Israeli brutality.
Likewise, gay activists turned the murder of Matthew Shepard into a universal "teaching moment" about America's homophobia and crimes against gays, and the urgent need for sensitivity training in schools.
But American Jews have found no "teaching moment" in the murder of Pamela Waechter...

So sad...it’s a shame it is a hidden tragedy.
One would never believe the (American) Jews could be so naive and self destructive.
In this country about the only people that stand in the defense of Jews are conservatives and “evil” Christians.
Amazing. I see nothing to give one hope.
Agreed.
Now, if the roles were reversed: A Jew murdered a muzzie, it would be a huge story in the MSM and the whole world would know about it.
“Gas Chamber Mentality”
Precisely.
American Jews will need to wake up who their true enemies are or else, history will end up repeating itself ! The enemies are the MSM and their ilk and those who they are in bed with !
Typical muslim jihadi... Attack children and defenseless women. And it's certainly NOT limited to the US. Far from it.
Over and over again in Israel, the first I recall with clarity was when I was in grade school myself, the Ma'alot massacre, where pali terrorists attacked an elementary school killing 22 children and 3 adults. There was the family murdered in their car, 2 children and a pregnant woman. Home invasions where the children are murdered first, then the rest of the family. It's happened more times than I can recall, 3 at the very least.
And anybody remember Beslan?

Three words: “Man bites dog.”

Took two trials for a conviction, first jury hung, despite overwhelming evidence. The second jury had the benefit of recorded jailhouse visits with his mom.
It's not all American Jewish men that this Stella Paul (whom one would assume is an American Jewish conservative woman) is criticizing.
She's rightfully socking it to the Jewish Left and its self-appointed male leaders for their weakness and appeasement in the face of Islamist brutality against Jewish women. True, the gender factor is kind of overplayed in this piece, but it's being used as an appeal to whatever sense of traditional masculinity and Jewish pride the likes of these appropriate targets on the Left might maintain.
Agree. But since the overwhelming majority of US Jews are liberal Democrats, one must believe that it applies to most of them.
Some of us have not forgotten . . . nor will we forget.
It may not be so overwhelming in the next election. Plus, more so than in other groups, Jewish men are likely to be be less liberal than their woman counterparts, i.e., there is larger "gender gap" in voting.
But it can't be denied that the Jewish leftist men that Ms. Paul targets for criticism richly deserve to be called out by name.
Good to hope, but I'll believe *after* it happens.
