Congress to decide whether Super Congress could impose gun control

Gun owner registration … bans on semi-automatic firearms … adoption of a UN gun control treaty -- all of these issues could very well be decided over the next 24 hours.

Both houses of Congress will be voting on a debt ceiling bill that establishes a legislative committee with TREMENDOUS powers. Fox News is calling this committee a SUPER CONGRESS, because its legislative proposals (which could include gun control provisions) CANNOT be filibustered or amended in the Senate or House.

Clove, what a great idea! Yes, run for Congress, I’m sure you have plenty of money and connections, and once you are there, you can singlehandedly change the good ol’ boy thug scene all by yourself.

Gosh, why didn’t you think of that before.

I just quit when the economy crapped after the financial terrorist attack September 2008. My business stopped breathing on the last day of 2008, and we decided to just go minimal until the Kenyan is out of office or we win the revolution. It just doesn’t make sense to feed the feds and have them hand it out to someone who won’t work.

The so called super congress is totally unconstitutional and needs to be treated as treason.

Sorry. I rather think it will be your hat riddled with bullets, if it comes to that.

There is a ridiculous misconception on FR that UN troops are weenies.

The French thought the same thing while they were sitting in the maginot line.

I don't recall making any assertion that the UN troops are weenies, but if they are brought to bear against the citizens of the United States, I believe they will pay dearly for it. If my "hat is riddled with bullets" as a result......

SO BE IT!

"...adoption of a UN gun control treaty..."

Yeah, should be fun, and entertaining!

Geez, at last count, there were over 88 million gun owners in the USA.

This kill-off should be good ............................................................................................. FRegards

Did you read the rest of the article? Yes, it would be voted on, but the senate could not filibuster and the speaker could not stop the issue from coming up for a vote. It would make it far easier for gun control measures to be passed

congress can vote hoe they please on virtually anything but that doesn't mean that it becomes law. If their vote mandates something that is unconstitutional, the courts (equal power) would very soon rule against them.

Unless we let them get away with it. They have no respect
for the Constitution, none. BTW, both the English Civil
War and the French Revolution began over state finance
issues.

Like Roe v. Wade?

Like Kelo v. City of New London

Like the 1934 National Firearms Act?

Like the Gun Control Act of 1968?

Like the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986?

roe v wade was a court decision not a congressional one...I'll have to research the others to determine their validity

This Super Committee nonsense is bad fricking news. There is a reason why we have 435 members of the House of Representatives. Now we will have Govt by committee. Any other legislation introduced by individual members will be marginalized and/or igonored

the super committee can only propose solutions they have no authority to do anything.

Kelo v. City of New London

I'll save you some time. That's a court decision too. If you think any of those firearms acts, all Congressional acts, are Constitutional then we have nothing further to discuss about the Constitution.

“the super committee can only propose solutions they have no authority to do anything. “

Are you kidding? The Super Committee will be proposing all financial legislation which cannot be filibustered or ammended. It goes to the floor for a straight up or down vote. In addition you have Senators proposing financial legislation. All funding bills have to originat in the House of Representatives. This Super Committee is totally unconstitutional. There are going to be a bunch of lawsuite filed shortly.

I agree with you. I think this super committee is completely unconstitutional

Not quite....they may propose whatever only, they have no authority to impose anything.

I love up or down votes. As long s Republicans control at least one house of congress, I have no worries whatsoever. If, however, the liberal left controlled both houses, and the presidency, I would be very worried. Even congress, both houses, cannot pass bills that are unconstitutional.
