Robroy is gone. Here is the contact info

Due to comments he made on this thread, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2766898/posts Robroys posting priviledges have been revoked. Since he began his membership in 1998 he has made a lot of friends here, many of whom were expecting freepmail once we got to our place in Kentucky. There are also some here who he worked with in the past in the real world. And his only connection to these people now is freerepublic and freepmail.

Therefore, if you would like to stay in touch with him, his "special" new email address is robroysjunk@gmail.com. Its an account he set up separate from all others to preserve anonymity when necessary.

Rob told me, as he likes to say, "two things": 1. He really enjoyed this site, maybe too much and 2. Getting revoked is very much like being a ghost. You are there, but it takes all your mental strength just to push a penny up a door. It's frustrating, so the best thing to do is quit haunting the place.

He really loves analogies and a flawed one seems to have been his undoing.

And he told me to say, "So long and thanks for all the fish!"

I have to assume he uses those tools at his discretion because there are obvious retreads that exist today.

This thing is too bad. Truly.

I know someone who, out of nowhere, gets spam mail of a sexual nature all the time. Of all kinds. Someone must have sold his address. He deletes everything, of course, but it could be visible at work.

For that matter, a couple of times doing my research, I have ended up at sites that have trash ads of all kinds. I had to report myself to IT out of compliance with IT policies. I’ve come to the conclusion that some entity considers it valuable to attempt to degrade what might be valuable information by surrounding it with filth and craziness. Like putting AQ plans in a pixel of some disgusting pic. But you see the pic and wonder how someone could actually DO whatever it is.

I am personally very sensitive to all things abusive. One thread a couple of years ago, with BikerBayb on it and some troll, was horrid. The thread was pulled after awhile. BikerBayb was a real defender against said troll. I left the thread in disgust and didn’t post for quite awhile, as it changed my thoughts about FR.

Not really understanding the ins and outs of what took place, I am sorry to see RobRoy go. He has ordinarily been very even-keeled. There are plenty of people who post here that can find it difficult to express opinions and beliefs so transparently that the old AT&T black box transmits the exact ‘signal’ coming in as going out. That is a learned skill and predisposition that many whose personalities run silent, run deep are not of the ilk that speak their opinions often.

That is true. But when the harm is unforgotten no retread account will stand.

If I ever got banned, I'd give things a long time to settle down before I retested the waters. Not that I'd be missed, mind you!

Suggest you read the thread yourself.

I read the thread.

He appeared to be arguing (starting at post 16) that collecting child porn should not be a great enough offense to warrant being registered as a sex offender.

I really don't care who thinks that that position isn't all that bad - I support the zot, and the zotting of any attempted retread account.

Some issues are important enough that a warning not to embrace them is inappropriate.. This is one.

Someone gets banned. It usually involves Viking Kitties and lightning.

All that is needed is an email address and a different screen name.

I was thinking the same. So, where’s the thread?

Thanks. Interesting thread. I’m glad I missed it ‘cause it really heated up. Something was in the water yesterday.

Gosh, I don't see that. The original case was about whether or not the convict could have unsupervised time with his/her own children. Then too, I think RobRoy was opposing the death penalty for possession of child porn; but perhaps supporting the death penalty for actually buggering kids, etc.

After seeing your later comment to Marmelstein, I read the thread. Thanks.

It looked to me like he was trying at first to say that calling for execution for possession of child porn was extreme BECAUSE such things can get on your computer and transferred via your wireless account without your permission, or knowledge for that matter.

This was the context of his first post on the subject, to wit - its much more difficult from a legal standpoint to measure intent just by possession, and penalties would need to reflect that.

I do not think he intended to defend possession of child porn with the intent to possess and view it. I’m pretty sure he meant that the law has to take into account the nature of the internet. Incidentally, if I understand the original ruling, the judge banned the perp from using the internet, and that would make sense to me: no way to claim in the future that possession was ‘inadvertent’.

I do think Rob’s later posts undermine and misrepresented where I thought he was going from his first post. And, of course, his drunk driving thought crime analogy was completely ill-suited to that point.

Good luck with the move, I know Rob considered the property in Kentucky to be a major move in aligning his lifestyle with his beliefs.

God Speed and good farming/living to you both!

I know exactly what you mean when you say you’re too sensitive to this type of material. For a long time I got pornography into my email. Not photos because I wouldn’t open them but disgusting subject lines. I felt like I was being tortured! Luckily, my husband came to the rescue and now I’m only bothered by friends.

Oh, those marvelous secured networks.......and personal MAC addresses. Gotta love ‘em.

Sometimes, my cell phone’s e-mail gets stuff that comes out of nowhere, and I wonder who tagged my signal. Mostly it’s ads about ADT or something innocuous. But it makes you wonder.

I don’t have Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, etc. accounts for security purposes. We don’t know who can get what anymore. I know I can dig up stuff like nobody’s business on topics and people that interest me.

Porn doesn’t. It sounds boring—any kind of it. But I have learned that apparently, in Washington State, beastiality of some kind is permitted on someone’s farm; just the thought of that makes me want to hurl, especially since I used to live in WA state.

Then again, there was a time when people were people and not animalistic. This doesn’t mean that some hacker can’t find some network flicker somewhere and let loose a whole slew of things.

I am grateful I don’t hack. I think that’s just too much nanothink.

I wouldn't have clicked on it at all, except for this thread about "RobRoy's gone."

Didn't seem any more heated than any number of threads around here, or most any place that allows open comments. The typical obvious misunderstanding and misconstruction of statements, etc.

The most surefire way to avoid the heat is don't read it, but if you must read it, don't post to it ;-)

There are some subjects that JimRob feels very strongly about.

Good for him but this is an open forum now CLEARLY funded by the members.
