I agree. We should take away the citizenship of every person living below the Mason-Dixon line. They are all relatives of the murderous Confederate Army.
How many of those people were blessed with citizenship of the countries whose citizens they butchered?
Not many.
The point is clear though. Many on this forum are ok honoring somone who has killed thousands as long as he had the right reasons and circumstances and as part of that honor giving him US citizenship is ok.
In contrast, I draw the line at granting US citizenship. It should not be given to someone who has killed thousands of people regardless of reason or circumstance.
We simply have a difference in view point.
In this case, I believe his being granted U.S. citizenship had to do with that redemption thing.
The US border issue is a bit different from this discussion, but I certainly do not agree with granting US citizenship to an illegal alien who has murdered people if that is what you are asking.
Forgiveness does not necessarily mean business as ususal.
My only point and it is very narrow in scope is that you simply do not reward someone with US citizenship who has killed thousdands of people regradless of reason or circumstance.
He probably had a very nice life prior to getting US citizenship. It is not like he was committed to a prison for decades and was suffering eternally.
A lot was forgiven. It is clear that a lot of people are ok granting citizenship to someone whi has killed thousdands of people. The point is understood.

Reading WWII history of the war in the Pacific, Japanese pilots were notorious for shooting at Allied pilots who had bailed out; would shoot them while hanging in the ‘chute. One story was about one pilot who faked being dead and when the Zero pulled up next to him to check him out (no the plane didn’t stop) the guy had his .45 down by his leg and shot the pilot. First instance of a .45 pistol downing a Japanese plane. Heck, first instance of a handgun shooting down a Jap plane.
My understanding was the Japanese hung the captured Doolittle pilots that crashed.

So that means you think General Robert E. Lee is a war criminal and all of the soldiers of the southern states are also war criminals and should never have been allowed to return to their original standing as citizens of the United States.
Once again I ask you, who is "Honoring" him and with what awards? All the information I have garnered simply state that he acquired citizenship back in 1960, NOT 1966 as stated by the author who obviously has an agenda in bringing up the name of Fuchida........

Your focus should be on that, NOT on the now deceased citizen Fuchida who has been dead for 35 years.......
It took me 14 years to become a citizen of this country.
I had to have a green card and a sponsor before even stepping foot in this country. I had to wait for years before applying. I waited 5 years after applying for citizenship to be called by a Federal official. I was then fingerprinted and went through a thorough background check. Finally 14 years after ariving here I became a citizen.
It is a great system because it gave the Federal system the time to investigate who I was.
As long as any nationality goes through this process I have no problem with an individual becoming a citizen. Certainly I would have a big problem with someone killing thousands of people becoming a citizen. That should not happen.
Again the point here is one of distinction. Many people on this forum believe that someone who has killed thousands of people should become a citizen if they have the right reason or circumstances.
I am simply saying that regardless of circumstances or reasons no one should be rewarded with citizenship if they have killed thousands of people.
We simply have a clear cut disagreement.
I simply will not change my mind in this regard.
