It's fair to say that the world wide web started biting politicians in the ass during the Clinton adminstration; with Drudge outing the blue dress, which the main stream media hid for months.
Though many sides use the openness of the Internet; it is becoming more effective for the conservative view, because the Internet circumvents the main stream media. Now a single blogger can take a major politician down. Now one stupid comment that would have never see the light of day is on Youtube 5 minutes after it was uttered. The conservative message is being read, watched and listen to by millions more every year, people seek their news, it is no longer spoon fed to them.
As the left more and more realizes that the public actually has an educated opinion, the more they over react and prove that their ideas cannot survive the light of day. They try to pass laws like Net-Nuetrality and The Fairness Doctrine, which only benefit them and stifle all other discussion. So that their historically monstrous ideas can be tried again to the peoples demise.
They always complain about the voices against them with smears; "Limbaugh the drug addict", "The Tea Baggers", never actually debating ideas, just muck raking for distracting purposes. Because they can not defend their ideas since that would be defending the indefensible.
Global warming B.S. began rapidly crumbling when hackers exposed 1000's of e-mails, which proved what many of us already new; they were scamming us. Algore is now just a fat blowhard with almost no credibility, who refuses to debate anyone on the merits of his big scam. Every time one of their scams becomes exposed they give it another name, now it's "climate change". As they get called out by proof they go hysterical; Algore says if you are a "denier" aka like a Nazi, you are as bad as being a racist like his father was.
They tell the right to shut up and just go with their loser ideas, they scream and shout like a petulant child, never taking blame. Stupid paranoia is bubbling up so much in them that the over reaction is becoming hysterical. Within hours of launching www.attackwatch.com and the accompanying twitter account, the Obama re-election committee had committed the biggest Inetrnet mistake ever for a campaign. Their once savvy-ness of the Internet has become an Achilles's heal of terabyte magnitude.
I wish someone would build a website using lie detection software which put truth/lie meters under politicians while they gave speeches, rambling evasive answers at press conferences, not to mention debates. An app would be nice as well. Imagine a world where these guys had to tell the truth all the time, all of them!
The Internet hopefully in time will expose more and more corruption against all citizens everywhere. I wonder how Algore feels now about inventing the Internet, I sure know why Obama wanted an Internet kill switch.
He didn't need to. The Central Planners own the implements of War and control all social institutions along with the currency.

Even though the dems were the first to master the use of the web for fund raising they still don’t comprehend the other tools the internet gives us.
It seems most dem politicians are still of a mind that all news is local and don’t take into account that what they tell one group doesn’t stop there.Their old habit of saying whatever a particular group wants to hear then changing message for the next is starting to come back and bite them in the buttocks.
Another thing they have been slow to learn is of the pervasiveness of cell phone cameras. There is no “off the record” anymore as there is always someone to snap a pic or capture the sound bite.
Sites like Obummer’s AttackWatch are proof they are coming around to the value of the web not only as a campaign tool but as an instrument of control. This is what worries me.
It’s my belief that a Communist Russia, China, East Germany etc could not and would not engineer the Internet. The notion of freedom of thought and communication is alien to the communist mind. That’s why liberals and their political party, the Democrat Party, hate the Internet and World Wide Web. They hate individual liberty and freedom of thought.
And those weren't even American hackers. They were Russians. So the fairness doctrine wouldn't have saved them even if they'd had it.
Not so sure that would actually help.

A skillful politician can tell you the truth is such a way as for the casual listener will believe the exact opposite of what a person reading the simple facts would believe.
Until they decide to control it, that is.

Ole Algore should have stuck with his first lie of inventing the Internet instead of defending ‘climate change’. How popular would he be by saying the Internet is allowing the truth of everything to get out.

Key is the Freedom of Speech....and the Truth. Any name calling should be challenged immediately with facts and debate-—not left unchallenged. Namecalling is a Marxist tactic and we have to belittle the immaturity and juvenile use of such strategies that are designed to destroy debate.
Teach Rhetoric in schools again —that which was removed by Dewey when he inserted his Marxist cr*p to create little marxist/atheist name callers.....Intellectual classes were removed and soft “social” classes were inserted to elevate emotion over intellect. They need emotional immature mob conformists who are easily fooled. (useful ACORN idiots).
We have to work to eliminate all “hate crime” bills and get government out of the education (brainwashing) business—away from “plastic” minds of the children. ( We need a generation that can think logically to end all the stupid irrational talk—like human beings are designed by the Creator to pleasure themselves with homosexual sex which creates a “flourishing” virtuous culture.)
We need to expose the evil MTV Marxist ideology being spoon fed to the teenagers and younger children to corrupt their morals, and hold the producers accountable for ideas they are instilling into vulnerable children. Parent should have total control over the ideas put into the heads of their children—not the perverts who control media and the schools. Turn off that trash and don’t allow your children to absorb their sick ideology if they don’t clean it up.
There are EVIL people who want to destroy the morality of the children....makes them dependent slaves of government and their addictions.
Power is with the people—government is afraid of the educated masses.....we need to organize and use it to get the kids away from their filthy ideas.
But most are too busy teasing and trolling for blog hits (or are otherwise just too lame) to bring down a dog catcher.
Thomas Paine brought down a major politician. Notice he didn't troll and pass out teasers to his work. He said it loud and clear without trolling for hits.
While your premise may have some truth, much of today's "new media" doesn't hold a candle to the great thinkers of the past.
