Mahmoud Ahmanutjob and friends do not think logically or rationally,

True enough. They're the "twelvers" who desire to bring the Mahdi and the Mahdi can only crawl out of the well if the world is awash in chaos, death and blood.

These clowns even scared the ayatollah khomeini

Y2K all over again.

Any force capable of generating an EMP that could wipe out every last silicon chip would probably wipe out all the carbon chips as well, if you get my meaning.

If I could sell this sky-is-falling disaster short, I'd be all-in.

If it scares people that much they should buy a roll of tightly woven copper screen and wrap it around anything they have that contains a microprocessor.

Otherwise, keep your guns and ammo stocked. Those are worth more than gold in any doomsday situation.

Actually I’m more concerned about a cascade failure. It was only a few years back that a tree limb caused blackouts from the east coast to the midwest.

Sources? Based on everything I've read, you are wildly wrong.

And what you have read tells you what? That anything that uses electricity instantly melts and is forever unusable from that point on?

And it would have to be a highly specialized nuclear device to do it.

That said, I’m not discounting that our enemies have the desire and the resources to do this. It might be highly unlikely, but the slim chance that it might happen would be devastating, even to a localized area. The effect would ripple and affect areas other than that directly affected.

My wealthy next-door neighbor once told me that he is anti-gun and would never have one in his home.

Guess where I would be going hunting with my 44 magnum strapped on my hip and my Remington 12 guage in my hands.

:-)

People are concerned because North Korea and Iran either have this technology - or are close to having it. Both countries are nutty and evil enough to use it against us... we would never recover from an EMP attack - 90% of us would be dead within a year.

This is real and needs to be dealt with soon.

A short life is better than no life.

A serious infection can do any of us in, even now.

I comprehend and agree with everything you have stated. My concern is the ship launched missiles being tested by Iran. Would our subs even be able to pinpoint where this type launched EMP came from, and do anything about it? Would they KNOW who launched it? Just questions rattling around in my mind.....

MY EMP Attack survival plan( or any other SHTF scenario):

1) Climb to roof of office building across street from my house.

2) Calmly drink my bottle of Grand Marnier while watching the looting and pillaging occurring at the Randal’s and HEB across the street.

3) Pray and thank God for a pretty good life.

When it’s my time, it’s my time...

Except, you car or truck has openings to the electronics: wheel wells, front grill, bottom of the car, safety glass. It’s going to be bouncing all around trying to get inside, and fry up anything electrical.

A propane generator would work until the propane ran out. Then....nothing.

In the meantime, your gennie sound and lights would make you a magnet for every marauding band.

I agree with your the thrust of your comments. I would like to see studies of the theoretics effects of magnetic field and atmospheric lensing on said emp ion effects. The Earth is curved and said emp devices would have to be placed just right to have effects on the earth as fear mongers declare. I think you would have to explode several devices equidistant to completely knock out the infrastructure yet the earth’s magnetic fields, mountains and surface features will still make the process incomplete.

Now EMP’s exploded several miles over key cities and installations could have devestating effects as preludes to military actions and they even need not be nuclear based.

Even that would be recoverable.

The fear-merchants don't like recoverable disasters.

No federal tax dollars in it.

Put it in-ground or in the basement and run the exhaust outside though a muffler=way less "sound and lights".

Our military infrastructure is extensively hardened against EMP. So, in the event of such an attack, the responsible nation would be vaporized either immediately, or following Obama’s removal by a military coup d’etat.

Huh? You’re saying you’d turn on your unarmed neighbor? This is a conservative value in your world?
