Rick Perry Report ^ | Oct 9, 2011 | Joe Hyde

This is the continuing series of Frequently Asked Questions about Rick Perry intended to adequately explain his record without distortion. At a Tax Day Tea Party rally in Austin on April 15, 2009, Rick Perry addressed the crowd of people in the prepubescence tea party movement. Individuals in the crowd shouted, "Secede!" It was a day of very red-blooded rhetorical baiting that all involved caught into the moment.

Here's a video compilation of that day when Rick Perry spoke at Tea Party Rallies in Austin, Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas

The difference between back then and now is: no true and loyal leadership, no courage,no allegiance. Now we have politicians selling off “residence” rights and “citizenship” when the bribery cash is gone.

Who knows. With his ideology of politically correct internationalism, he might mean that Texas should leave the Union and join the corrupt government of Mexico - his central heart love.

When croney capitalists and “citizens of the world’ traitors like Perry talk about leaving the Republic, think LaRaza rather than George Washington.

The Supreme Court says otherwise.

The supremes are wrong, just as they are wrong on other rulings. There is nothing in the constitution that prevents states from leaving the Union, if you think there is point out the article or the amendment that states this. You trust the same court that said Dred Scott was property and could be bought and sold and found a so called "right to privacy" that makes killing unborn children legal? That Supreme court?

Any time you join something, you have the right to unjoin it. The civil war started because the Union simply didn't want the southern states to leave. Lincoln didn't give a rat's behind about slavery, he wanted to send the blacks back to Africa. He simply didn't want the Union to fall apart on his watch, so he ended up killing 600,000 or so Americans to accomplish that end and called the Southerners "rebels" when, in truth, there was or rebellion. Secession is legal and just.

Read the constitution, all of it, including the preamble. Tell me what you think the founders meant when they said that men have the right to choose their own form of government and to throw the old one out if it becomes too onerous to bear. Seceding is exactly that, choosing the form of government one wants.

I live in Texas too. I don’t really get this open hostility towards Perry on immigration. He’s had a mixed bag, but really honed in on the border security piece since 2006. I tried to chronicle his entire record on it here, good, bad or great: http://rickperryreport.com/faq/rick-perry-illegal-immigration

If you can provide verifiable evidence to the contrary of what’s there, please fill me in.

Otherwise, I’ll assume you’re living inside an asylum in Texas, unaffected by what’s really going on in our state (-;

Sure, anyone can start another American Civil War and leave the Union. Ask Van Jones. Isn’t that what he wants? War?

My point is that there is no special condition in Texas’ entrance to the Union in 1845 that says Texas can leave the Union at anytime thereafter.

You guys are splitting hairs.

I am an activist focused on illegal immigration. seven years now. I don’t let any politician get away with just talking about the border.I want to know about what they are doing on internal enforcement. The forces that are profitting off all those humans that made it across the border spending money in Wal-Mart,burdening tax-payers on school systems, crony capitalism in businesses hiring them. All of this is a mockery on those who have died fighting for this country.

Yep, the only way to secede is via war. There is no right to secede, per the Supreme Court.

Very interesting. The illegal immigration has become a microcosm of (primarily) white, middle-aged angst over jobs and the economy. I am not completely on board with this ideological tilt. I’d rather deal with the problem pragmatically and deftly, than demanding absolute purity of essence. You know why? Because NO ONE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IS PURE on this subject, not even Herman Cain, who ran a chain of RESTAURANTS (hmmmmm... kitchens have cooks, dishwashers, you get the picture).

And Perry isn’t perfect either, but who could be pure enough on this issue to satisfy every paranoid resident living in a gated community with their doors locked who thinks a fence solves all problems? Perry’s record spans 11 freakin’ years if making tough decisions and dealing with border politics in Texas. That experience trumps all other candiates sitting on the GOP stage right now.

Also, remember, in the general, you’ll need Hispanic votes. Might be nice to have a THOUGHTFUL leader running the Republican campaign who understands all sides, not just the uber-paranoid, ideologically pure one.

Joe

My comments above were a little over-the-top and too strongley worded.

I would be interested in learning more about what you do as an anti-illegal immigrant activist. I am particularly intrigued with e-verify. I understand from Constitutional conservatives like The Rutherford Institute, that E-verify is considered a Trojan Horse meant to better regulate and control all of us. That’s my next subject to tackle. I’ll check out the http://www.stopthemagnet.com site (It appears to be Houston-based, so it’s already got some cred with me. Grew up there.)

Joe,
There will always be those on the right that worry about stealth ID related to E-Verify. My God they have every possible piece of info on me just via my passport. E-Verify is a database that combines info from USCIS,SSA to ensure that they have valid info. They just got the photo-screening tool that can determine if their visas etc...line up also on visas.Self-Check allows a person to check before they get a job that way they can clear up name issues etc..
I cannot believe people on the right wish to fight the last viable method we have to get these folks out of our jobs market.

“Explosive New Book Details Rick Perry Snorting Cocaine from an Oil Derrick During Pig Roast, and an Affair with -NBA stars. /Palin turnabout>”

I don’t know how to do the strike out thing, but there I fixed it! LOLOLOL
Has someone moved in next door to Rick to “research” the book yet?
Are Simon & Schuester, and Harper Collins in a bidding war over it yet?
Doesn’t matter if the is one shred of fact in the book, one of the major publishing houses will print it. Maybe I should write it, and donate the proceeds to Cain!
