My sources say that this battle of the "statistics" was taken very seriously by all players -- the White House, State and Justice. Yet, WHY was this game of statistics so important to the players? If some weapons from the American civilian market were making it to Mexico into the hand of drug gang killers that was bad enough. What was the importance of insisting that it was 90 percent, 80 percent, or finally 70 percent? Would such statistics make any difference to the law enforcement tactics necessary to curtail them? No.
This statistics mania is similar to the focus on "body counts" in Vietnam. Yet if Vietnam body counts were supposed to be a measure of how we were winning that war, the focus on the 90 percent meme was certainly not designed to be a measure of how we were winning the war against arming the cartels, but rather by what overwhelming standard we were LOSING. Why?

DOS is where the action is, because that is who handles the Small Arms Treaty. A treaty is the only legal instrument these thugs can slip through with the power to annul the Second Amendment by its enforcement and interpretation.

“Hillary Clinton: America to Blame for Mexican Gun Deaths”
“Well, it seems as though the apologists are at it again. Our illustrious Sec. of State has now echoed the misleading and in some cases totally false talking point as to the numbers of guns “flooding Mexico from the U.S.”
The unsubtantiated claim first made by president Obama that “More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that lay in our shared border” repeated by Kristen Rand, the Legislative Director of the Violence Policy Center and then picked up by Mexican president Fellipe Calderon, has now been used by Clinton during her visit to Mexico this week.
That the claim has been proven false, as much that comes from this administration has, makes no difference when the ultimate aim is to disarm and control the citizens of THIS country.
The BATFE has only stated that 90% of the guns traced are from America. BATFE only traces a fraction of the guns seized; those firearms are not selected randomly, but are likely selected because they are the guns most likely to have come from the U.S. Trace data reveals nothing about the large number of guns that are not traced.
Clinton did acknowledge that “Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade.” But she added, “Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the death of police officers, soldiers and civilians.
Her statement that “I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility” is just another example of yet another one of our “leaders” blaming America for the problems that plague another corrupt government and reveals the true intent……gun control...”
