On eve of debate, Rick Perry ‘pretty confident’ he’ll win
Houston Chronicle ^ | LYNN SHERR, Parade Magazine interview - Oct 23 issue

Posted on 10/11/2011 2:45:11 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

...LYNN SHERR: Do you feel as if the other candidates have been ganging up on in the debates?

RICK PERRY:“When you come into the fray and you’re leading in the polls, you’re going to get attacked by everyone. I get it. I’m a big boy, and I know how to play that game. “

Your critics say you’re not electable...

“Well, I disregard that. Americans are looking for somebody to stand up and tell them the truth, and I have a record to back it up. Ultimately, if I can explain my heart, my jobs record, and my philosophy to Americans, I’m pretty confident that I’ll win.”

You’re a very successful fund-raiser....The word that’s been applied to you is “cronyism.”...

“That’s the same old, tired criticism which comes when people don’t want to talk about the real issues, like how do we create jobs......"Decisions in Texas are generally legislative, with the lieutenant governor, speaker, and governor making them together. There were no unilateral decisions from my office dealing with those issues. And I’ll go back to my record. I’ve been elected three times as governor. The people obviously have confidence in me.”

Your wife, Anita Perry,....

“She’s very smart and loyal. She’s not predisposed to be a public figure since she saw how her father, a small-town doctor, had to be shared with all these other people. She’s also a great patriot. “

Some of our recent presidents have admitted to experimenting with drugs...

“No, ma’am. Not unless you call caffeine a drug. Or cold beer or whiskey.”....

Many people have remarked on the interview linked below.

The man Rick Perry appointed Texas Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson -- a good example of the caliber and character of leaders Gov. Perry surrounds himself with – unlike Obama who appoints and defends appointments such as U.S. Attorney General Erick Holder.

Perry does a nice job of fielding these tough questions.

Sounds like Perry's RINO donors just gave the HC a years supply of free ink.

LOL — The Houston Chronicle, as all LIBERAL MSM new outlets, are doing their best to kill a Perry presidency.

Of course LIBERAL MSM outlets like the Boston Globe love Mitt Romney (and his heathcare, etc., etc., etc.).

The only thing that makes this tolerable is that the Gov. actually gets to talk.

The MSM doesn’t do policy questions. They can’t have Obama upstaged.

Well if a “liberal” publication gives a Republican a wet kiss like this, what does that say about the Republican?

This is a puff piece. Where are the hard questions about the Governor’s positions on the issues? Does he think he’s electable? What about his wife? Was he picked on in the debates? Blah. Blah. Blah.

How about asking him to explain what many conservatives consider his exceptionally weak attitude toward illegal immigration? Ask him if he’s a compassionate conservative in the Bush mold, and then ask him to explain why or why not. Let’s hear the man’s ideas, so we can properly vet him!

“Presidential candidate Rick Perry tells the Brody File that he’d be “lost” without God and prays for the “Holy Spirit to guide” his tongue. The Texas Governor also talked with me about whether he has Sarah Palin’s phone number on speed dial and reacts to Herman Cain’s meteoric rise.”

“Nobody disagrees here about taking out Slick Willard, but it is Perry who poses the most immediate threat of hoodwinking the base into believing he is one of us when he is anything but. Once Perry is eliminated as a viable candidate, we can then focus on Willard who has been static in the polls for months. Coalescing around Cain is of paramount importance at this point so we can move forward en masse and eliminate Willard once and for all.”

That's what Parade Magazine does. It's the snarky Houston Chronicle headline that is so very typical. Did you know Rick Perry didn't get one endorsement from a major news outlet (didn't grant them interviews either) and he still was elected? The MSM, lawyers, unions and establishment GOP are after his scalp.

You'd already have a good understanding of how he would govern, if you'd been reading my threads. But since you seem truly upset not knowing, I hope you will continue coming to Rick Perry threads to learn more.

Perry has cattle. Unfortunately they are the rustled liberal variety and re-branded as conservative.
