i think it might be a kerosene can, they have come in many shapes. The main give-a-way for me, is the small spout.

Looks like a Turkish pitcher like we brought home, ourselves. (We lived in Turkey for 6 years.) We have an old one, this looks like a replica. Ours is copper with tinned interior, straight wooden handle. Sometimes used as a teapot. They make the tea strong, then add hot water from the Samovar into it. Possible use, anyway.

I have a similar looking gizmo that was my great grandfather's bee smoker but this looks more like a pitcher.

If it is a bee smoker, you put a smoldering rag in the top part.
