Obama the Angry
The Orange County Register blog Orange Punch ^ | 10-25-2011 | Mark Landsbaum

During the State of the Union speech last night we had the TV turned up very loud so I could hear the speech while following along in the released transcript on my computer screen and taking notes at the keyboard while simultaneously roughing a draft of our editorial today.

Let him make this perfectly clear...

During the 65 minutes he spoke, I developed something of a headache.

It seemed to me the president virtually shouted his entire speech. . .

Waitaminnut.

OC Register is the Orange Country Register.

The rational alternative to the communist rag LA Times. It’s the only paper worth reading in all of Southern California.

OC Register is blog pimping?

“Orange County Register”. Sorry.

There goes my newsroom copy editor gig. :D

I’m inclined to vouch for this source.

I love how the Self-Appointed Blog Police gave this guy’s blog thread about 20 bumps by whining about it.

Except that whoever uses the two FR screenenames doesn’t EVER respond to posts, except to ask people to hit his site because he gets money for it and he needs to earn a living.

The one handle has a signup date of 2001 and didn’t post a thing for TEN years.

Check out the posting histories. All they are are posting threads. NO comments but to ask for money. He’s just using FR for free revenue.

Like humblegunner said on another thread, I don’t donate to FR to provide free advertizing for the guy.

I agree you shouldn’t click on any link if you don’t wish to. There are plenty of other posts here to read and comment on.

I just wanted to point out that the Orange County Register is a real newspaper. It is listed on Free Republic’s front page in the column “Media Links”. I am from Southern California, so I am familiar with the paper. It is also on the Free Republic’s list of excerpt and link only sites.

I posted an article once from the Orange County Register. The Free Republic software wouldn’t let me post the whole article. It was automatically excerpted.

Hmm.

Seems lame. The Orange County Register is better than the Los Angeles Times. Really.

They’re like WSJ vs NYT.

Seems pretty lame for them to have someone trying to eek some sort of money making scam at their site.

Perhaps I won’t vouch for the poster, and it isn’t the actual paper news website, it does indicate a blog.

It’s a good newspaper, anyway.

Weird.

The author can post his own work in its entirety.

This is blog pimping pure and simple.

He should be charge a fee for wasting peoples time posting links to a blog.

No hits from me and a lot of other FReepers who are sick of this crap.

I was a paper boy for the Santa Ana Register [today’s OC Register] during the Carter Administration.

My first District Manager was named Barry. Barry was an idiot. Always messing up. The other paper boys would refer to a screwup as ‘Pulling a Barry’. Eventually Barry was fired.

Barry was replaced by my second District Manager, Michelle. Michelle was a platinum blonde who drove a cherry red Corvette. If you needed a bag of rubber bands, Michelle would come speeding up, cross over to the opposite side of the street facing oncoming traffic, stop next to the curb where the paper boys were folding their papers, crack open the Corvette door three inches, drop the bag of rubber bands in the gutter, and then speed away.

Yep...Barry and Michelle.

I’ll refer to this historical snipet in a much longer post this coming October.

Stay Tuned.

Tagline! ROFL!
Since the dead vote for the Demwits, I suppose one of them could run for office too.
Alinsky would be well suited for the VP slot, no worse than what we have now.

Since the dead vote for the Demwits . . .

Have you heard the story that there is now proof that both OBL and Gadaffi are truly dead - they are registered to vote in Chicago.

FReepers, you can decide whether you like him or not, but there's no doubt the Orange County Register is a major suburban Los Angeles newspaper and that Landsbaum is a legitimate journalist. The Orange County Register is the largest newspaper in the Freedom Communications chain, a chain for which I once worked. It's probably the largest conservative daily newspaper in the country after the Wall Street Journal and Washington Times.

I've attached a copy of Landsbaum's bio with a link.

I think there's a good chance that Landsbaum simply doesn't know Free Republic policy and being polite might have worked. For Landsbaum's benefit, here's a link to an item, “The Pimp and The Poster (Mod Lecture Series)” that may be helpful:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2722423/posts?page=1

Mr. Landsbaum — It's not stated very prominently in any FAQ section, but the Free Republic policy in that link, posted by Admin Moderator, and also included in several other threads, is a preference for articles to be posted in full rather than excerpted unless copyright rules require them to be excerpted.

If company policy permits at Freedom Communications, it would be a good idea for you to post the full text of your articles.

I am not seeking to pick a fight with the “blogpimp posse” who have been attacking you, or to defend them, simply to explain that posting the full text of your articles is a way for you to handle their objections.

Mark Landsbaum has been a journalist since 1972. While at the Los Angeles Times from 1978 to 1995 he was an award-winning investigative reporter, feature writer, sports writer, crime and political reporter and held a variety of other news assignments. Prior to coming to the Register and after leaving The Times, Landsbaum owned and operated a writing and marketing business, authored a book on marketing and ghost wrote and edited business books for clients.

He also wrote news and commentary for secular and Christian publications during that period and white papers for his church on bio-ethical issues including stem cell research and euthanasia. His writing for the Register is informed by his Christian faith, and the paper’s tenets of the 10 Commandments, Golden Rule and Declaration of Independence. And he’s a Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
