Romney's Bribery of the Florida AG With a Promise of a Position is Against the Law

Romney will stoop to any level to get someone to be his surrogate. He already offered a job to the Florida Attorney General, Pam Bondi, who surprise, surprise, is now vocally supporting him on Greta. Jim Robinson also writes about it here:

Here is the appropriate part of the code:

Title 18, Part I, Chapter 29, Section 599 of the U.S. Code:

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

So who is responsible for filing charges? Can a citizen make the arrest?

If we locked up every candidate who suggested a supporter would be good for a cabinet position, there’d be no candidates left.

I guess under some interpretation of this rule, if Gingrich convinced Santorum to drop out and endorse him in exchange for the VP slot, we’d have to put Gingrich in jail.

Gingrich cannot give Santorum THE job. The 'voters' would be doing the hiring. Whereas Romney offering the AG a position ..... oh go to the top of this page and hear for yourself what the AG muttered.

"I bet you $10,000 that my utterly
mindless maid, here, absolutely supports RomneyCARE AND deathpanels,
and especially the fact that Romneycare cost the Bay State 18,313 jobs;
drove up total health insurance costs in Massachusetts by $4.311 billion;
collapsed disposable income per person by $376; and
even reduced investment in Massachusetts by $25.06 million
,
and the mindless twit supports my coverup of the BIG DIG AND my backstabbing of GOP candidates through surrogates,
(Thank me, she even jumps right in to attack them)
and she especially LOVES my imposition of gay marriage by
my personal order under improper Executive Authority,
and my support of TARP and Sharia,
my bribing of Officials with a promise of future positions,
and even my making money from the 911 Victory Mosque.
These are truly things that make my robotic twit and me 'conservative'."

I wonder what she is planning to do in her next job after Willard loses to the POS. She is through here.

I must have missed the story. Where is the evidence a job was offered?

I might add that it sure would make ‘reality’ tv if Newt could do the honors.

Pondering that perhaps he offered her the position of WH Press Secretary.

I still miss Tony Snow.

Yes, but she blurted out all over tv. I wish Greta had picked up on that. It is clearly a violation.

The only way Mitt gets endorsements is he PAYS for them. He is a creep. Can you say CRONY CAPITALISM.

I wonder how much Coulter is being paid....or Kraut...or Cavuto...or Hannity...or Beck...or Drudge, etc.

Reminds me of the line by Clooney in “Three Kings”: (after the Iraqi wouldn’t give up fancy cars to Clooney) “OK. We’ll buy ‘em.”

Clooney and company proceeded to do a fake Saddam entrance. Worked for awhile, too.

Reminds me of what Romney—and 0bama do.

Why don’t you contact the Gingrich campaign to look into it, and let it check out if it is a violation or not?

We cannot allow Mitt Sleaze Romney to buy Florida with the money he stole from Medicare, can we?
