Gingrich can perform one last service for the GOP, drop out and endorse Santorum.
About a week after his surprising victory in the South Carolina primary, Newt Gingrich did an interview with ABC News, most of which he devoted to complaints about the tactics Mitt Romney was using against him in Florida: "We have not been as effective in telling the truth as he has been in running ads… which have had to be pulled because they were so inaccurate." His most notable remark, however, was a thinly veiled hint that Rick Santorum, who at that time had failed to gain any momentum from his caucus win in Iowa, should drop out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination: "The conservatives clearly are rejecting Romney. He is nowhere near getting a majority.… The fact is, when you combine the Santorum vote and the Gingrich vote... the conservative combined would clearly beat Romney."
Santorum failed to heed the former Speaker's suggestion, of course, and it's unlikely that he regrets that decision. He has since won three more upset victories in Missouri, Colorado, and Minnesota. Santorum now ranks second in delegates and trounces Mitt Romney in the latest national survey conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP): "Rick Santorum has opened up a wide lead in PPP's newest national poll. He's at 38% to 23% for Mitt Romney, 17% for Newt Gingrich, and 13% for Ron Paul." PPP has thus anointed Santorum the "consensus conservative candidate."
Meanwhile, Gingrich has floundered. He has not merely failed to add any fresh victories to his single South Carolina win, his showings in the most recent state contests correspond with the percentage he received in the PPP poll.

Time for Newt to do the honorable thing and declare he’s staying on through the entire rest of the primary because he’s the ONLY CONSERVATIVE OF THE BUNCH!
We have no one to carry the torch other than him. No one else will try to reign in the spending or fix the courts.

If there’s one thing I learned from Santorum backers, it’s that we need both candidates in the race in case one of them collapses for good.
They were swearing to this, and I will take them at their word.
Go Newt!!!
If Newt and Rick announced an alliance and themselves as a ticket.
Romney would be toast.
Funny, I have cancelled long time subscriptions to both the American Spectator and the National Review in the last few years.
Romney should withdraw.
Fiscal Conservatives have no choice other than Newt.
I don’t trust the motivation or political intelligence behind either of these organizations or anybody else calling for this right now.
Mitt must be stopped at any cost.
IF either one of the remaining conservative candidates drop out it just makes it easier for Mitt to focus his dirty campaign tactics on the remaining conservative candidate.
I’m not a Newt supporter, but let me remind everyone that McCain lost 16 states. None of these guys, except for the show pony Paul is out of it.
I hope Newt keeps his word, and sticks this out to the end, and somehow ends up winning the nomination, and the election. What Newt has to offer are serious well-thought concrete solutions to the mess we are in. I just don’t see Mr. Santorum as having the depth of Mr. Gingrich, and I don’t quite understand his appeal. What exactly is it that makes him number one these days? (Still a Santorum candidacy is okay with me.)
Now that his big money backer is openly admitting to helping Newt only as a means of helping Romney, Newt needs to do something.

Likewise for the appeasing surrender monkey, Ron Paul. He's long since gone from being a mildly-amusing crazy uncle to certifiably insane. Thankfully he has no chance of getting nominated but he wastes valuable time and space in debates.
Newt is going no where. There is no “honor” in his dropping out. They will just have to keep their panties in a wad.
There will be daily articles calling for Newt to get out and when Newt comes back there will be daily articles calling for Rick to get out...
They have all ready started gushing about the horrors of a brokered convention..Paul is stuffing it with his delegates, Jeb will emerge from the smokey back room blah blah blah...
If conservatives want a conservative president they need to tell the establishment to flip off and do everything they can to make sure Romney does not get the nomination.
Having Newt and Santorum in the race does not split the conservative vote it keeps Romney from taking the nomination from the Conservatives
