The video featured above captures one of those rare, out of the mouths of babes moments. In an interview released Monday, an 11-year-old reporter named Topanga Sena challenged the first lady Lets Move! anti-obesity program.
Michelle Obama was asked to respond to critics of the program who say the government has no business telling people how to eat.
Miss Topanga is certainly showing promise as a reporter and, according to the Free Beacon, is currently reporting for Scholastic News Kids Press Corps in Florida.
Below is a transcript provided by the Beacon:
TOPANGA SENA: How do you respond to critics who say the government should not be telling people how to eat or to stay active?
MICHELLE OBAMA: You know, thats absolutely rightand Lets Move! doesnt do that. Lets Move! is not about having government telling people what to do, because government doesnt have all the answers. I mean, a problem thats this big and affects so many people requires everyone to step up. So were asking everyone to do their part. Parents have to make some changes at home, but they need the information to be able to make those choices. And they have to have access to affordable foods in their communitiesfresh and healthy foods, right? We need government to do its part, but we need businesses to do their part, as well.
However, as The Blaze has extensively reported the first ladys anti-childhood obesity push has done everything from revamp the menu at Olive Gardens to include kid-friendly, low sodium options nationwide to take the happy out of Happy Meals by requiring the fast food giant to include whether it is asked for or not apple wedges and less french fries in every childs Happy Meal.
The Blaze has also reported on what happens when local school districts take hold of childrens lunch options, thus Senas question on government control of food choices seems fitting.
Nanny State PING!
Still sounds like typical Obama playbook: staged Q&A, with lies in the answers.
Knowing how left wing Scholastic is, it's more likely it was a planted question, with Moosechelle my Belle at the ready with a pat answer.
"No, the government can't tell you what to eat, but it can take away your government paid healthcare if you don't eat the way we tell you to."
Girl was a total plant...just as the question was so obviously scripted.... just as Michelle’s response was clearly rhearsed.
“need” “have to” “requires”..
Those do not sound like it is optional.
Now.. Gasp.. I can’t believe I am about to say this. I AGREE With Moochele on one thing..
“because government doesnt have all the answers.”
Shes right. It doesn’t. But her and her worthless husband think THEY do.
Thanks for the ping!
No 11 year old’s question begins with “what do you say to your critics...”. Axelrod probably himself wrote the question....and the answer which he then had Moochelle repeat 5 times.
Another vacant presidential spouse ping...
Kid sounds like she’s got someone around her who is thinking reasoned thoughts. However..., “Topanga”?
That seems rather strange to me.
Yes, I think you and others are on to something there.
We had M. O’bummer here in Norfolk, during the election and she visited a kindergartn. Some gutsy kid said that “we need to fight the war and win it and your husband doesn’t like the war...”(or something like that) and it stumped the FLOTUS big time...
got very little play in the MSM...of course...
No idea what has happened to the kid....hmmmm.
Topanga really is mature...kids her age mistake Michelle for Chewbacca.
The kid asks a very, for her age, mature question.
In her answer the First Wookie lies our her large rear end.
I thought that too. It was quite jarring.
Put the girl in a room with Gibbs for 30 seconds and he’ll have the truth.
“Put the girl in a room with Gibbs for 30 seconds and hell have the truth.”
You betcha !
Checked yer ground beef lately?
Well, he's already IN reeducation camp, and I doubt that they'd kill him, so....
