Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich says Rick Santorum’s double-digit loss in the Illinois primary shows he is not the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney — and he can’t defeat President Barack Obama.....
“Governor Romney had a pretty good day — I think he took a step towards clearly proving he was the front-runner. Senator Santorum didn’t have a particularly good day,” Gingrich said. “This is the third time now he has tried an industrial Midwestern . . . state and not succeeded. And I think that the conservatives have to think through the right strategy if they hope to stop Romney.
“We are faced, I think, with a very serious challenge, in terms of who can beat Barack Obama — that, in the end, is what this is all about,” he said. “So I’m staying in the race because I really do think it's a question of who can beat Barack Obama.”

“Sean, it’s going to be a two-part process . . . phase one has to be stopping Romney because the fact is if he gets 1,144 vote, he’s the nominee, fair and square — it’s over,” Gingrich said. “On the other hand, if as voters look at this — as happened last week, for example in Mississippi and in Alabama, as happened the previous week in Kansas — if people say, no, they don’t want Romney, then I think you get to a situation after June 26, where there is a 60-day conversation.
“Santorum won’t have a majority, I won’t have a majority, Romney won’t, Ron Paul won’t — if that’s what happens, then we will....

You Santorum supporters are to be commended for your steadfastness. I admire it. I also disagree with you completely.
Why would Santorum’s women voters go to Romney? Because of Newt’s adultery? You’re telling me that those far religious right evangelical women would rather vote for a Mormon who used to be pro-choice than Newt?

Reality or gut check this morning.
Newt is Right LA is Halftime. Half of the Delegates will have been handed out.
Newt's Campaign is Broke and Santorum Campaign is Broke. Mittens will be taking in additional Millions now.
Three state winner takes all is coming up April 3. 98 Delegates.
Then on April 24 283 Delegates are at stake. Santorum has to focus on PA. But that means he must pass on NY=95, CT=28, RI=19, DE=17.
If both camps don't wake up and smell the coffee its over.
You do your own research on Newt Gingrich's favorability polls with voters, women and men, dozens of polls with all kinds of agendas, over the past 3 years, the results pretty much the same.
Newt may entertain a certain segment of voters with his speeches and wit, but people just...do not like him.
They even like Romney more than Newt. So Romney is who he is competing for voters with, not Santorum
