Bill Maher reaping what Media Matters has sown
Legal Insurrection ^ | March 22, 2012 | Professor William A. Jacobson, esquire

Posted on 03/22/2012 8:18:43 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

We live in a world where groups like Media Matters and Think Progress monitor and record every word uttered by any conservative of prominence in the media, hoping to find something “insensitive” with which to mount a campaign to silence the speaker through intimidation of advertisers.

So what goes around come around, and Bill Maher is feeling the heat. And Maher doesn’t like it:

"Let’s have an amnesty — from the left and the right — on every made-up, fake, totally insincere, playacted hurt, insult, slight and affront. Let’s make this Sunday the National Day of No Outrage. One day a year when you will not find some tiny thing someone did or said and pretend you can barely continue functioning until they apologize.

If that doesn’t work, what about this: If you see or hear something you don’t like in the media, just go on with your life. Turn the page or flip the dial or pick up your roll of quarters and leave the booth.

The answer to whenever another human being annoys you is not “make them go away forever.” We need to learn to coexist, and it’s actually pretty easy to do. For example, I find Rush Limbaugh obnoxious, but I’ve been able to coexist comfortably with him for 20 years by using this simple method: I never listen to his program. The only time I hear him is when I’m at a stoplight next to a pickup truck."

Maher is right. But an amnesty is not possible so long as groups like Media Matters and Think Progress exist, because what Maher decries is their very reason for existence.

Yeah, the only people who listen to Rush are rednecks in pickup trucks. Too bad his demographics say different.

“And Bill Maher doesn’t like it.”

Well isn’t that too bad.

(Scu*bag)

Actually, I’m with Mahr on this. Our founding fathers let it rip in honor of the 1st amendment. (They just went out and shot each other, actually).

I say, other than actual obscenities on public airwaves (FCC type stuff) let them say what they want and let the public sort it out.

The shin-kicking getting a little tough for you, Maher?

Maher is right. That is why I cancelled my cable. If I have to pay for shows like his I won’t get cable. Till the cable company figures out that they loss business because I will not and many others will not pay to get him on the airwaves more power to them. As of now I to only hear him when I pull up to a intersection and the jerk in the prius next to me is watching his Ipad.

Maher is right.
Not in my mind. Thanks for sharing your opinion, Bill.

Under any other circumstances I’d agree with Bill Mahr. But not this time. He’s just become a victim of the Left’s own double standard. Let him and his pocket book, freshly minus a million, reap what the left has sewn.

Shades of “Why can’t we all get along?”.

Self-serving Maher is a little too late in his promotion of the virtues of amnesty and co-existence.

The liberals pick these fights, so let’s have the fight.

Truth hurts doesn’t it Bill? When you are judged by the standards set by liberals, which twist back to when you called Sarah Palin the C word and T word and God knows what else, it serves you right.

“Turn the page or flip the dial or pick up your roll of quarters and leave the booth. “

I am familiar with the first two, but what does “pick up your roll of quarters and leave the booth” mean?

Best I can think of is a reference to payphones but it still doesn’t make sense.

So Bill Maher can dish it out but can’t take it?

Okay then.

Either a video game or a prono peep show.

“pick up your roll of quarters and leave the booth”

Porno peep show - we used to laugh at the guys watching these when I was a teenager a long, long time ago. Precursor to porno on the internet. Shows back then couldn’t even begin to measure up with what is on some TV shows now which are free - but it’s all they had.

And Maher doesn’t like it:

I could care less what this hate filled anti-Christ bastard thinks about the consequences of his evil.

This is typical liberalism. The demonic-rats scorch the earth on republicans and when they return fire obama calls for civility. When the demonic-rats get busted for sex or drugs or racism they call for forgiveness of youthful mistakes or bad choices or they are temporarily out of character.
The press plays along, by pointing out any conservative voicing objection to the double standard.
The demonic-rats and their minions believe that since they have no objective standards (like Christians) they can not be held to any standard at all. If you do not profess morals than you can’t be held to any moral standard.

I agree to end the false moral outrage, but must start with the oh so sensitive left!

Well, considering his brand of humor .... maybe he’s talking about the guys that set their phones on ‘vibrate’, put them in their pocket (not the hip one), then call themselves from a phone booth. It’s an old joke .... you can tell ‘cause I doubt there are many, if any, coin pay phones any more.

I agree. But that doesn’t mean that the liberals will stop, so neither should we. They try to intimidate us, we intimidate them.

They started it, I can remeber way back in the 60s, it was a favorite tactic. So let’s show ‘em that we can learn. If they get hurt, and want to improve the level of discourse, why we will follow their lead. Whichever way it goes.
