Rick Santorum’s 22-point margin of victory in yesterday’s Louisiana primary was the 2nd-largest in any GOP primary this year — and was the largest outside of any candidate’s home state. Santorum received 49 percent of the vote in the Bayou State, equaling the combined tallies of Mitt Romney (27 percent), Newt Gingrich (16 percent), and Ron Paul (6 percent). Prior to the race, polling had shown Santorum up by 12 to 14 points.
The 22-point margin was Santorum’s biggest in any primary to date, and it surpassed Mitt Romney’s largest margin in any state except for his home state of Massachusetts. (Candidates have, however, posted larger margins in some caucus states.)

Did he win 90% of delegates from LA? Math says he needs 90% of delegates in remaining states such as DC, MD, CT, DE, NY, RI, OR, CA, MT, NJ, NM, SD, UT etc to reach 1144.
So nobody please drop out. Newt & Paul need to keep winning delegates in remaining primaries to prevent Mitt from reaching 1144.
That's where Newt is weak. He's the best Conservative choice of those remaining, but he may have a woman problem.

I have been voting since 1960 and my vote for or against someone never depended on whether they were someone I would ever want to marry. I initially planned to vote for Cain. IMO the economy, jobs, taxes and my personal freedom are way more important than whether a candidate has a past history of screwing around.
I can accept a Santorum or Newt for the nomination, but I cannot stomach a Romney nomination. I want to see the delegates on the floor of the convention make the call..then it is time to take down Obamunism.

IMHO to many women are voting with “feelings” instead of their brain. I have seen it with the juries I have served on.
Rick Santorum won as many votes as Romney, Gingrich, and Paul combined last night. It’s another setback for Romney, who should at least come within 15 points of Santorum.
The key now is to keep Romney from winning enough delegates (1,144) to claim the nomination.
Nevertheless, Santorum sucks.
Santorum should just get out. He’s not conservative enough for Republican voters. He’ll never get any votes in GOP states. He’s been dropping like a rock ever since he made that etch a sketch comment. Nobody wants a candidate that actually believes all that God stuff. Just wait, Newt is going to make a comeback. Did I miss anything?

Thank you loser Gingrich for this who siphons off votes and helps reduce Santorum’s margin of win and hence his delegates. Andelson’s foil is working.
That's all well and good, but you seem to be suggesting female voters in general do just that. No doubt it happens that way for some but I don't believe that applies to conservative women of faith at all.
For example, it could be argued that if a candidate will lie, cheat, and betray his wife (of whom he presumably is committed to and loves), why would he not do the same to people he doesn't even know if doing so would satisfy some short term objectives?
You may not agree with that kind of thinking, but it's more logical than looking at a candidate in the context of whether or not he might be 'marriage material’.

Now that statement will really influence the voters for sure.
It doesn’t require a 5th grade education to realized that Santorum sucks. Any idiot, even you, should be able to see that.
A Santorum nomination would be a tantamount disaster.
I do happen to be a “conservative woman of faith”. There are a few issues that I will not sit in judgment on, I will leave that to God. My decision on whom to vote for in the primary is based on what they have said and done in the past and what they say they will do in the future in areas of governance which are important to me. For me that leaves only Gingrich as the best overall candidate so that is who I am voting for in the primary.
Unfortunately Romney cracked 25% so he got 5 delegates.
And it seems a large # of LA delegates are not chosen in this primary. Odd. I’m sick of this Byzantine nomination process.

I guess that depends on what is meant by ‘judgement’. Some see past behavior traits and patterns of changing one’s belief system more a matter of a trust issue rather than a Biblical type judgement or condemnation.
Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Gingrich is a fine candidate given the choices the GOPe has left us with. I would choose him also, and not because Newt’s simply ‘better than Romney’. He certainly has the wherewithall to undo some, if not most, of the damage done by the obama people if he really wants to.
I do think that Paul, Santorum, and Gingrich best come to some agreement - and soon - or Romney will be the nominee, which I believe will pave the way for an obama reelection.
