Coulters Reagan slips: Demonic or ignorant? Oops! Conservative author and Mitt Romney backer Ann Coulter may be able to get away with GOP misinformation, artful or inadvertent, with Fox & Friends co-hosts Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy, and Gretchen Carlson but not with Red Eyes ombudsman TVs Andy Levy. Rather, Levy nailed Coulter and she knew it.
Three days ago, Coulter told the credulous F&F co-anchors that Ronald Reagan pulled got out of his losing (1976) GOP Presidential campaign early a la Mitt Romney in 2008:* And, she indicated that Rick Santorum should follow suit now. Only problem: Ronald Reagan took his bid to the GOP convention where he narrowly lost on the first vote in a hard-fought floor fight.
Today, Coulter iterated her F&F argument to Red Eye anchor Greg Gutfeld, sidekick Bill Schulz, and RE panelists. Unfortunately, for Coulter, REs fact checker Levy was listening. During Levys Half-Time Report, he asked Coulter about Reagan taking his bid all the way to the convention.** Looking dumbfounded, Coulter obfuscated: Instead of vainly defending her erroneous assertion, she muttered that Reagan had convinced a conservative group not to back a third-party challenger again President Ford (and that Romney had exited early). Fortunately, for Coulter, a smiling Levy merely pressed her a mite more and compassionately moved on.
Catching Ann Coulters Reagan gaffes? Brickbats for Brian, Steve, and Gretch. But, bravo, Andy!

What real Conservative, of Ann's vintage, doesn't know that Reagan fought Ford at the Convention in '76? One of Reagans great speeches came out of that after Ford was nominated.
Like the Headline.......
Never go to war against your target market.
I am getting worried about Ann..used to like her a lot..but she has just come up with some whoppers lately..not only did Reagan stay late, he even had his VP pick..Schweiker from Pennsylvania...also, she wrote a few weeks ago that Newt had little do with the GOP takeover of congress in 94..that few people knew who he was..kinda hard to believe since Newt was named Time’s Man of the Year..(even if it was a hit piece and terrible cover)..let’s hope she is right about Mitt..we are stuck with him..
Worried about her? She’s a deliberate liar. She deserves contempt, not worry.
I once bought one of her books....about 10 pages of original work, and then the rest were reprints of selected columns.
Ann figured out that she could fill a niche in Republican so-called conservatism as a faux firebrand complete with outgageous quips meant to fuel the fires and, coincidentally, get her air time.
Her marginal (although waifish figure) good looks engendered support from mostly male conservatives who were duped by the words and the blonde hair.
She’s nothing but a huckster who figured out how to feather her nest in a conservative arena that doesn’t have much attractive-look competition...
This b!tch has shown her true colors - don’t trust her, ever again.
Coulter lost all credibility when she went early for liberal Mittens. She is washed up.
Wait’ll she sees the sales figures for her next book...
Rules apply!!
Not in her case. The heroin-chic Mitt fan looks like a zombie at this point.
I only stopped by because I misunderstood the headline.
The picture is crooked! I wish I could reach in and straighten it.
Neither man ran in 1992--and Nixon was ineligible to run because he had already been elected twice.
Reagan ran the first time in 1968--how far did he go that year before giving up?
Ann was defiantly talking about Reagan ‘76. She was pushing the same meme on Fox and Friends and other places to argue for Santorum exiting. Red Eye was the only place that bothered to look into this and ask her to clarify. She could not. She either intentionally lied or she doesn’t know what she is talking about. Reagan ‘68 had nothing to do with this nor was it a misspeak.
Interesting she should assert that. I remember observing from Meridian that the Mississippi delegation was arguing over whether to continue with unit rule (all or none) or to permit some delegates to peel off and vote for Reagan. They made nice and went all for Ford.
There doesn't seem to be any love lost between the two.
I read some insider accounts of the floor battle between Reagan and Ford. Most of Reagan’s people agree that they ruined their chances to knock Ford out by saying they would use Schwieker as the VP to appeal to moderate delegates. It turned off Conservatives from sticking their necks out. It seems to make sense out of all the stories about it.
“There doesn’t seem to be any love lost between the two.”
On the contrary, I think there’s some real sexual tension there. These two need to get a room!
