An eyewitness says:
"It was pretty freakin' real when all the dogs started barking right before it hit, then EVERYTHING shook. We were in the field just outside the barn & the barn continued to shake for a couple minutes afterward. We are about 50-60 miles or so from where it hit."

There have been multiple sonic booms and explosions, one at 8:30 AM also. Meteorologist attributing to debris from Comet Thatcher and the Lyrid Meteor Shower.

What sort of time lag in this getting out to the rest of the country was there? They’re three hours back from Eastern, so three hours ago this happened?

Wow, just called my friend up on the mountain above Columbia and she said it landed about two hundred yards from their house. She said they heard the boom but thought it was a sonic boom until they heard on the Radio about the earth hit. Fires burning and the Fire Dept. spotter plane is circling the fire as we speak.
I wonder if it smelled like incense?
No NORAD or NASA warning.

Wow, lots of detailed eyewitness descriptions. Sounds like two difderent events, both unusually large to these people who sound like hobbyist spotters. One white, one green, both brighter than the moon.
Forgot to mention, to impart that much energy it was either a few tons weight or was moving very fast (MV2). Some come in at over 100 Km/sec.
So there actually is an impact crater? I’ve been left with the impression that it, well they, exploded in the atmosphere, from the few news sites and blogs with any information.
It happens occasionally around here. It may happen tonight.
I'm cooking smoked new-mexican style shredded pork with jalapenos, hand-crafted salsa, hand-crafted corn tortillas, pinto beans with smoked ham hock and jalapenos, and spanish style rice.
So an explosion may be on the schedule for tonight. ;)
