Is it time to boycott Florida? (Cover the keyboard in Saran Wrap)
The Examiner ^ | April 29, 2012 | Bryian Revoner

In the midst of this controversial ‘Stand Your Ground’ law issue in the Trayvon Martin case and in the Marissa Alexander case, three key questions immediately come to mind. Question number one is how much injustice is this ‘Stand Your Ground’ law going to inflict on the public and on good, old-fashioned common sense before it is either revised or repealed? Question number two would have to be is this barefaced differentiation in the applying of the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law in regards to both of these cases a direct reflection of the ‘War on Women’, a war on minorities, a war on the poor, or just an outright war on the disenfranchised as a whole? And, question number three is the question that has already begun to ask if it is time to strongly consider boycotting the state of Florida?

Now don’t get me wrong. Florida is a beautiful place. I’ve been there a couple of times, and it is absolutely remarkable on the outside to the pleasures of the eye, but between Trayvon Martin, Caylee Anthony, and now Marissa Alexander, the systematic innards of the Florida justice system are not nearly as pleasurable to the consciousness of the right and wrong barometers of our hearts, our minds and even our rights.

To put it plainly, if Alexander, an African-American woman who is facing up to 20 years in jail for firing a gun in her home at the ceiling, the wall, the roof, or whatever; is sentenced to anything more than probation or a fine and possibly some community service, the Mickey Mouse state will never see a nickel-slick dime of my money again, and that goes for Mickey, Donald, Goofy, LeBron James and the Miami Heat and even Florida orange juice!(continued)

“how much injustice is this ‘Stand Your Ground’ law going to inflict on the public and on good, old-fashioned common sense”

And here I thought it was good, old-fashioned common sense that started the “Stand your Ground” law in the first place.

Bryian appears to be one of those types who would prefer that Americans be defenseless. A real dirtbag looking character.

OH Please 28 states have this same law and Ohio is considering one.If they boycott Florida they should boycott the other 27 too.Half of them probably live in a state that has it and are clueless about it.Simple truth is that if you are not attacking people or breaking it not their homes you probably have nothing to worry about.....

Liberals, please stay home. We really do not want or need your liberal BS here. We have more than enough liberals and other vermin as it is.
Florida is a dangerous place to be. Stay home where you are “safe”

Maybe Alexander would have been better off to just kill her husband.

Maybe Alexander would have been better off to just kill her husband.

After a brief researching her case, the only thing she's guilty of is shooting in the wrong direction and relieving society of a real slime ball.

Boy friend abusing FIVE babymommys?

Not Guilty!!!

Karl Denninger recently and forcefullly considered exactly the same proposal, but from the entirely different point of view, his being that the Angela Corey's affidavit was so repugnant that the higher ups and the electorate that put them in office needed to feel some consequences.
I'd post that but I'm on lynx and I'd make too many typos trying to fill in all the fields
It's also interesting how a less informed, casual reader might surmise that the screed of the OP and Denninger are actually in agreement. I've found this often to be the case in Real Life conversations on other issues. People, by no means dogmatic liberals see the similar language condemning some policy and think there's some kind of common ground
I'd like to be able to say I've been boycotting Florida since 2005, but such is not the case. Haven't been able to make any discretionary travel decisions. I also would have avoided the Clearwater area alone, not all of Florida

The Alexander case is new to me, but I read three stories about it before coming across a CNN article that points out that the husband recanted his affidavit supportive of her actions at the SYG hearing.

He told the judge he conspired with her to protect her in the written statement, but she actually fired at him, when he was with the kids, while he plead for his life.

I’d be interested to hear more than outraged liberal bloggers on the facts in this case. Where did the round impact? That would be a fine place to start, although discharging a firearm to intimidate can probably get you a stiff sentence all by itself. What did the children say happened? Was he a repeat visitor? Anybody drunk or high?

She was in fear for her life, but she went back to confront him, passing several exists, rather than retreating or waiting in the garage? He charged her, but she only fired once in the ceiling? The man involved went directly to the police?

Something’s up, and the judge didn’t buy her version, and a jury deliberated for only a few minutes before finding her guilty.

I’m all for the RTKBA and if a wifebeater legitimately gets shot, no tears here. Applause, more likely.

However, the fact that liberal bloggers and commentators are crying “Racist law!” while giving a redacted version, or only her version, of what transpired at the scene and in court leave me very skeptical.

In the Martin shooting, we are finding out how the libs rushed past all facts to fit a narrative that allowed the play of the race card. What should make us think this is any different?

I believe everyone including the Disney family were all born in places other than Florida.
Maybe if the other states kept their riffraff out of Florida there would be less to bitch about, BRYIAN!
