4 Reasons Why THC Should Not be a Factor in Trayvon Martin's Death (Unintentional Laff Riot)

Ever since Trayvon Martin was gunned down by George Zimmerman just moments from his front door, some people have been trying to make Trayvon look like a trouble making 17-year-old black kid who started a fight with a man who was only doing his job. That's crap!

Regardless of what they say, I know in my heart that wasn’t the person he was. I’m not saying he was an angel because no one is perfect, but he’s not what people are trying to make him out to be. I consider that totally disrespectful for anyone to slander anyone else’s name when they’re no longer breathing to defend themselves. I believe it’s a cowardly and disrespectful move. So what if he was suspended from school for having a baggie with marijuana residue in it and he has THC in his system at the time of death, you can’t judge someone for something you have done or still do. Here are four reasons why Trayvon’s marijuana usage should be completely irrelevant.

1. You can’t judge someone for something you have done or still do.

Everyday people of all ages, races, and social statuses fire up blunts, smoke joints, and hit bongs in hopes of easing their minds and obtaining that good feeling. Though everyone in the world doesn’t smoke weed, the average person does smoke or has at least tried smoking. Those who smoke can tell you that they more than likely started smoking as a young kid, teenager, or in their 20’s. If anyone has tried smoking, it was usually during the previously mentioned time that this experience took place. May I remind you that The People’s Son, as I would like to call him, was only 17-years-old? No one walking this earth is perfect, so people need to put their fingers down.

2. Marijuana Does Not make you aggressive.

THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, has been proven to make the user the complete opposite of aggressive. Anyone who uses common sense knows that weed is considered a downer and not an upper, which means that it’s going to slow you down and calm you before it makes you aggressive and prone to violence. After smoking any amount of weed, no one really wants to fight; they just want to eat and chill out. Alcohol is the strongest pharmacological link to violence and it’s the one that’s actually legal.

3. People use drugs and alcohol use to paint imperfect pictures of people.

People are always so quick to use toxicology reports against other people to make them seem like a less than adequate person. If you drank a beer or two, would you like it if people called you an alcoholic? I don’t think you would appreciate it very much. Ok, now imagine you were deceased. How would you feel, so to speak, and how do you think your family and friends will feel when they know you good and well you were nothing of the sort? Reports say that Trayvon’s THC and THC-COOH levels were so low that they can’t be connected to intoxication. Even if he was stoned out of his mind from smoking the best weed ever grown, he still wouldn’t have been in an aggressive state because weed is a downer and not an upper.

4. Drug use of any type is irrelevant because Trayvon was minding his own business while was he was on his way home.

It doesn’t matter if Trayvon was smoking weed or smoking crack, the point is that he was in his own zone minding his own business while he was on his way to his place of residence. He never took it upon himself to go mess with George Zimmerman, Zimmerman took it upon himself to mess with Trayvon. Trayvon could have been blowed out of his mind, but he wasn’t bothering anyone. If he was high at the time he was killed, he was just going home to finish watching the game and enjoy his high. He didn’t want any trouble, but trouble sure sniffed him out like a rabid bloodhound.

It’s been almost three months since Sybrina and Tracy saw or talked to their son. I know what it feels like to want to hold your child, but realize that all you can hold is a picture and your memories. Sometimes people just want to report the facts or get their point across, but don’t always stop to realize that this isn’t just a news story; this is an innocent life that’s gone and a family that’s hurting. People are quick to report someone else’s shortcomings, but work twice as hard to hide their own.

Maybe that happened and maybe it didn't. The thing is that I'm not swearing that it did, whereas you and a bunch of others are swearing that Martin jumped Zimmerman without provocation. I say prove it.

Actually, that's a bit backwards. Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder. According to the legal analysis I have read and the Florida laws, the prosecution is expected to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that George Zimmerman acted with a "depraved mind" when he shot Trayvon Martin, that Zimmerman acted with ill will, hatred or spite. With only one living witness to the start of the fight, that is almost certainly impossible. This story should die or be used as an example to discourage criminal behavior, but a trial is absurd.

I'm not talking about a trial or the burden of proof in a court.

More than a few freepers swear that Martin jumped, attacked, assaulted, sucker-punched Zimmerman. I'm just asking them to back up their statement of "fact" with proof. So far nobody has.

Absolute proof? No. Supporting evidence? Lots of it. The statement by Zimmerman (the only living witness to the start of the fight) is exactly that. All the forensic evidence is consistent with Zimmerman's statement. The photographs and medical reports support the claim that Zimmerman was injured in a manner consistent with that conclusion. There is no known evidence of any contradictions between Zimmerman's statement and the remaining evidence. For Zimmerman to have invented a story that matches all the physical evidence strikes me as far less likely than that Zimmerman told the whole truth.

The bottom line: Occam's Razor never gets dull, and in this case it points to a conclusion that you find insufficiently supported, one that the rest of us find strongly if incompletely supported. Discussion that version as "fact" is simply easier than discussing it with all the caveats you might prefer. Still, if a video came out showing Zimmerman to have initiated the attack, I suspect 99% or more of Freepers would immediately accept that evidence, so I consider FR an open-minded group.

The "evidence" (which proves only that there was a fight)equally supports multiple speculative scenarios, including those wherein Zimmerman continues to follow and confronts Martin. This is more in line with their known activity - Zimmerman got out of his car to follow (his own words) and Martin tried to avoid contact, he ran (zimmerman's own words).

If you have proof of what happened then please post it.

Easier but not honest --- and the only "caveat" I prefer is that pesky little thing called proof.

Any attempt to tell the truth about Martin is called slander. He was described as a “model student” by the media. In truth he was a thug who rarely attended class and who had been frequently suspended from school. Not just for drugs either.

Martin wasn’t minding his own business. He attacked Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is the one who has been slandered.

I think that’s true. Nevertheless I believe it is the drug that the ‘technicals’ in Somalia would chew to get all hopped up before going out and massacring people.

Now, I’m not saying that there aren’t gangbangers who drive around LA, etc., tokin a blunt before they do something very violent and deadly. Mixing it with alcohol can increase the effect of both. Some treat it with formaldahyde creating a street drug known as “wet.” But I maintain that in this country the street drug most likely to provoke a rampate is good old crystal meth. Followed closely by crack. AGAIN - that doesn’t mean they aren’t smoking pot with that. It kind of goes with everything, like ketchup.

I like it when the cops call some trash like Trayvon “gentleman”.

Correct and both are extremely addictive. I do know that "bangers" enjoy lacing their joints and blunts with crack or meth.

I recall P.J. O'Rourke's reports from Somalia and he noted that the Somali gunmen chewed it all day because it took some time for the full effect of the drug to manifest. He noted that the most dangerous time of day was the late afternoon when all the gunmen were "fully loaded."
