There is not one presidential election. There are 50 state elections for Electoral College electors. We have the Civil War as precedent; the show must go on.

I think you may be on to something here. I can see him at the convention making this announcement and saying "It's all Hillary's now." I'm almost sure he's telling the moose to start packing.
I don’t think he’ll do it unless he has the Next Big Thing all lined up. And maybe he does.
As I said, the “suspend the election” thing is at the tin-foil hat end of the spectrum.
It would certainly be possible for him to do so - and have the support of most of Americans and the military, which is what counts - if there’s some kind of national emergency. But as I said, I don’t think he’s bright enough to stage one and get away with it, and I also think he’s sick of the job anyway.
I believe we’re witnessing the States saying NO to globalism.

Yes, a bit tin foil hattish...and yet, my gut says this is exactly what is going to happen. Or something like it. Like, Romney not waking up one morning and the GOP has no time to select/promote a new candidate to any real degree.
I’m a realist. I really don’t believe Obama will be happy unless he has completely destroyed our country as we know it. He needs one more term to do that.
RP has been very quiet lately, and I think he’s basically acknowledged that Romney is going to get it.
