Why You Absolutely Must Have Food Supplies, Hard Assets and Reserve Cash
SHTF Plan ^ | 6/11/12 | Mac Slavo

The latest warning signs are, once again, popping up in Europe and should be taken seriously, as it is only a matter of time before such events play out in the rest of the world, including right here at home:

Via Adiconsum Italia – Translated via Google

BNI depositors unable to make withdrawals / payments, payments of utility bills, mortgage payments, taxes

Peter Giordano, Adiconsum: “Grave of the Bank of Italy’s attitude that takes action without considering the impact on depositors, and especially on single-income families and pensioners”

The Bank of Italy authorized the suspension of payments by Bank Network Investments SpA (BNI) without communicating anything to the depositors.

Very serious and unacceptable – says Peter Jordan, Secretary General Adiconsum – the attitude of the Bank of Italy SpA in each BNI, because highly prejudicial to the interests of customers.

Bank of Italy, in fact, after extending the receivership of the bank, thus giving the impression of an imminent rescue, then gave the green light for compulsory winding up, without giving any prior notice to the depositors, leaving them in no condition to perform any type of operation, even basic ones for daily survival, such as withdrawals / payments, utilities payments, rates, taxes.

Will reserve cash be worth anything if things collapse? And will gold or silver be worth anything if eating and fighting off starving looters are the most important considerations of the day?

It depends on how bad it gets.

“if things collapse”

It’ll get bad if that happens. Be very prepared.

IMO it depends on whether its just a financial collapse or if there is a war that goes with it. By war I don’t mean riots, but China or Russia looking to expand. Perhaps the muslims taking advantage of weakness.

Can you prove that any of your prepping will make you and yours better off that the non-preppers? I’m envisioning a scenario like Zimbabwe. I’d suspect that at least some white farmers had plans for shtf. Mr. Mugabe and his hit mobs made short work of them. Here’s hoping you fare better than they did.

what are hard assets?

I think if the SHTF quick trading commodities will be things like bar anti-bacterial soap, bleach, antiseptics, chlorine, toiletries, water carriers, candles, propane.

Are those what are considered hard assets?

Think closer to home. What happens to the close-in suburbs of major cities. . .when the welfare and food stamps just. . .stop.

“Can you prove that any of your prepping will make you and yours better off that the non-preppers?”

Can you prove it won’t? I can prove that without food you’ll get hungry and that without water you’ll die.

Why should I have to prove anything?

Matches, portable stove fuel, pump water filters, toilet paper, battery radio and extra batteries, hunting, fishing and self defense equipment, Long-lasting food like MREs or certain canned food. I am seeing canned salmon with sell-by dates 5 years out.

Good point but I think its worse than that, its not just the suburbs. A good 50% of the population gets govt support of some kind. When it stops there will be riots all over. Some suburbs will be peaceful and some will be violent. I’d wager its almost random. The higher the population density the more likely there will be violence.

Look to Greece. What happens when the electric companies stop because they can’t pay their workers or buy coal? Or the police stop getting paid, the list is endless. The govt will try to hold it together for a while, leading to massive inflation.

“By war I don’t mean riots, but China or Russia looking to expand. Perhaps the muslims taking advantage of weakness.”

China and/or Russia would not try it...I think they know that the largest ‘army’ in the world is that of the armed American citizenry. And if the muzzies want to start something, well, bring ‘em on!

Of course, this large ‘army’ at some point will need some leadership. I think that can be put together w/o too much difficulty. Lots of experience in this ‘army’...many who have been there. The one thing we won’t need is that part of today’s military leadership that is there because of politics...can you say ‘the Colin Powell’s?’

“Can you prove “

Stupid question. Unless you can predict the future nothing such as this is provable.

Probably not, but ammunition will be worth a lot.

Zimbabwe is 98 percent black. The 98 percent made short work of the farmers you mention.

The situation is very different here in the US.

Start with 200 million firearms in private hands.
