A Million Immigrant Workers Still Stream to U.S. while Many Veterans Have No Work

One in Three Young Vets is Unemployed; Unemployment for African American Vets Tops 40%

Despite across-the-board high U.S. unemployment and the platitudes of government officials, Congress and the President still hew to policies that allow almost a million new legal immigrant workers to enter the country annually.

The unemployment picture for returning veterans is particularly grim. One in three young vets is unemployed. Recently returning veterans age 18 to 24 are being disproportionately affected. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2011, young male veterans had an unemployment rate of 29.1 percent, nearly double the rate of their nonveteran counterparts. And, unemployment for African American male vets tops 40 percent.

Young Americans have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as served in other places both around the world and at home. Many from already-depressed areas of the country joined the military for lack of other opportunities. So to serve the country and return home still without job prospects, and now too often with physical and or mental health problems as a result of service, has got to be the definition of “adding insult to injury” for these servicemen and servicewomen.

There are no rational or logical underpinnings to policies that undermine putting American citizens first. And while reducing legal immigration and its handmaiden, illegal immigration, will not solve the crisis in the U.S. job situation, doing these two things will help. It’s an increasingly common belief among citizens that the government does not serve them. Limiting legal immigration and eliminating illegal immigration will not only get Americans back to work, it will help restore the much-eroded credibility of the U.S. government.

No, we are bringing in LEGAL WORKERS. These are in addition to the illegals.

“Others come here from abroad to study in our colleges and universities. But as soon as they obtain advanced degrees, we send them back home to compete against us. It makes no sense.”
-Barack Obama State of the Union Address

“I am working to try and change the immigration laws so more Indians can come (to the US). One of the things that Harry and I care a lot about is changing the visas. So more Indians can come here to travel, the visa laws are a little bit too restrictive so we are working on a bipartisan bill. Harry Reid is going to try to help us get it passed very fast.” Charles Schumer

"Unemployment for African American Vets Tops 40%"

So by extension, unemployment for non-african American vets approaches 60%. WTF does race have to do with anything here?

Are we supposed to be more outraged because black vets are out of work? How about just being outraged that illegals are taking jobs from Americans and vets and are bringing wages down?

Illegal immigrants are taking entry level jobs while thousands of returning US vets are unemployed.

So of course the GOP establishment types like JEB BUSH and MARCO RUBIO respond by recommending we be more 'welcoming' to the illegals.

My grandad would be aghast to find what a bunch of pandering milquetoasts his party has become.

Once again this summer we have about 100k young foreigners working in the US on temporary visas. While millions of our own kids can’t find work. Here in San Diego..when I stop at McD in the morning to pick up my senior coffee..I see beautiful young girls from Eastern Europe working replacing the usual collection of Third World cast offs.

Who is your new neighbor and co-worker? What is his or her name? How did he or she get here? Did Uncle Sam bother to ask his or her name when he or she entered our country? Did Uncle Sam check him or her for weapons or drugs or disease or a criminal past before he or she crossed the border? What kind of education does your new neighbor have? What kind of skills does he or she bring to our country? Could he or she be a drug dealer or a gangbanger or a murderer or an undocumented alien? Could he or she be carrier of communicable disease? Has he or she been vaccinated? Is he or she hiding from someone? What is his or her past? Did Uncle Sam make any effort to check? What is Uncle Sam’s responsibility regarding your new neighbor? Why is he or she receiving checks from our social programs when it is obviously a fraudulent claim?

He or she has no driver’s license, yet he or she drives without fear of the law. He or she has no auto insurance and no assets, yet he or she drivesdid you hear me, without fear of the law. He or she has been convicted of a hit and run, but was forgiven; he or she has run over someone, nearly killing the person, and was forgiven again. He or she lives in a sanctuary city where his or her rights trump yours. If you accidently crash into him, you will lose in court and must give him your assets.. If he or she crashes into you, tough luck. His or her name appears in the paper, the criminal section all the time, but he or she is still your neighbor.

His or her kids attend your school and play football and tennis while your kid sits on the bench or was cut from the team. The school must add an ESL class to accommodate his or her children, but the school also must eliminate your kid’s honors course to pay for it. He or she visits your hospital when he or she is sick, but your doctor cannot see you until after your affliction has subsided. He or she knows an anchor baby will seal his or her status in the UsA but does not have to pay the hospital bill or the education bill. He or she gets his or her way all the time, breaks our laws, consumes our resources, and runs back to Mexico just when the local law is going to throw him or her in jail. Thanks Uncle Sam. Who is your neighbor? And what is his or her name again? The biggest crime is that you cannot talk about him or her and the solutions because then you are branded a racist.

IMHO, we cutoff work permits until unemployment is under 5% or even 4% so American’s can get first dibs on jobs. In my job, I deal with many Indian’s and Middle Easterners, positions which should be taken by American’s and many of those are big corporations. A lot of times, when I deal with them in computers, they don’t have a clue what they are doing.

Agree. Our immigration policies should be connected to our employment needs. Levels can be adjusted along with going to a merit based system that brings in the skills we need to be competitive in the global economy.
