Facebook Acquires Face Recognition Tech...

Zuck's smiley-face KGB getting even spookier

In an undisclosed purchase thought to be in the neighborhood of $90M, the Big Blue Beast devoured tech startup Face.com, and it's sure to raise even further privacy concerns for users of snoopy ole Facebook (along with pretty much everybody else): a face recognition firm that's developed the ability to identify and tag faces in pictures... including any found on the internet.

Add to that the fact that 'gigapixel' digital photos upwards of one billion pixels already allow individuals to be picked out of massive crowd shots in minute detail and soon the they can just scan an entire stadium -for, say, a political rally or speech- and have a list on Spooky Dude's desk by before breakfast.

But you haven't heard the half of hit: a recent internet privacy study by Carnegie Mellon University found that they were able to easily cross-reference portraits between Facebook and a major dating site... instantly outing many 'anonymous' romantic hopefuls. How much would a list of the married ones be worth
(to the Gambinos)?

Amongst other reasons to fear those in possession of such advanced face recognition technology might be identity theft, as candid photo snapped on the street could instantly be mined for birthdate and other info handy to crooks (and marketers)... and they already would know where you are, what you're doing, who you're with... and what you're wearing.

Stalkers could well be welcoming a new golden era, as all they've got to get that babe in the background of a shot and put it up on Facebook... (free) face recognition will take it from there.

Within social clouds an emerging paradigm -almost completely devoid of privacy- called 'augmented reality' built on facial recognition could forever change the way people -and companies- interact with one another. Not only is that unsettling, but something tells me a lot of it is going to have difficulty squaring-up with the Constitution of this country...

J.Edgar would have **drooled** for something like facebook

oh... and don’t think online pics are the only ones being used.

every street cam you pass under is also using similar tech to id people in cars as they pass under... establishing not only identity and location... but associations as well

It sounds like the FBI surveilance of the Gambinos in the 70s, built a fake railroad booth near their hangout and took all that footage... we ALL face that daily now

Here’s how to get rid of your Face-Butt account:

http://www.wikihow.com/Permanently-Delete-a-Facebook-Account

(At least the public won’t see your data anymore, but once it’s there, it never truly “goes away”. Face-Butt owns you.)

Also, delete your cookies & links to Face-Butt from all of your browsers, under “Tools”. There should be a option there under “Prefs” or “Account” or “Advanced” o something, depending upon which browser you’re using. Opera gives me the quick option to do so.

Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao etc, none of them had any tools as powerful as these. Without exact “targeting” tools, they had to purge many thousands to be sure of getting their potential enemies.

With modern social networks and face recog for targeting “state enemies,” it will be simple for a dictator to decapitate his potential rebels. Find precisely the enemies who are the social nodes and meme makers of the opposition.

The modern purge can be calibrated down to a degree that would make the purge “deniable.” If only the leading meme-makers are targetted, then such means as “accidents” and poisoning could be used. That's why everybody was immediately suspicious about the circumstances of Breitbart’s death.

A gangster govt that has pulled “Fast and Furious” has already crossed the state-sanctioned murder Rubicon. Murder to them is just a tool in the political box...that's what Fast and Furious was about. Getting a (Mexican) body count.

It's a very small jump from there, via a series of deniable cutouts, to some crazed leftists “helping the cause” by offing a well-known conservative. Or even a White House “plumbers” direct-action unit is not out of the question. I would put nothing past this present gang in power.

If Obama is reelected, it will be Katie bar the door, when he goes the full Hugo Chavez, since he can't run for election again and has nothing to lose.

Some people think BO would be controllable if we maintain the House.

I don’t think so.

” since he can’t run for election again and has nothing to lose.”

Since when has he been concerned with following the law?

If Obama gets re-elected, we could see a new American revolution take place.

He is presently concerned with following the law only to the extent that it would prevent his reelection chances.

Once he’s reelected, we will see the full Hugo CHavez.

Marxists are all about getting out in front of “the counter-revolution” with purges. That was Che’s specialty in Cuba: rounding up likely enemies, and putting them against a wall. Believe me, Obama and his Marxist crew are just waiting to enact a purge plan. The problem is keeping it contained within a small group if it is only to be a deniable “decapitation” of opposition meme makers. If they tried to use the entire FBI, for example, to enforce quazi-legal political arrests (federal hate speech charges, anti-govt sedition, etc), they can’t be sure the FBI will be loyal. The trick is to cull off a fanatical and politically driven element within federal law enforcement, who don’t mind operating outside the law. They do have such an element, they were the originators of Fast and Furious. But they must be feeling slightly burned right now. A counter-revolutionary purge would be tough to pull off in the present conditions. But it is surely in the Marxist playbook.

Its interesting that Obamas lawyers in Florida the other day over the NBC review in court claim Obama isn’t the democratic nominee yet.

That tells me Obama has no intention of being anybodies nominee except himself, he knows every loophole possible of the laws about ascending to POTUS, and now that he is there he has made his bastion secure.

If he becomes nominated he will have to face the courts and contempt of court, so I think he will brazenly keep on running, will have a game plan to stop the election.

I would love to be the proverbial fly on the wall at the Communist Party USA headquarters to see just how they plan to keep Obama in power.

The technology for this has been around for many years. The collection of the data was always the problem. What has changed here is that people are uploading their pictures, clear and high quality pictures, for these systems to utilize. They are also lining to each other in various ways so data mining is no longer an issue, people are giving the answers away. We used to have to BUY various data lists, such as store receipts, inventory purchases, credit card lists, customer mailing lists, etc. The costs were typically 4 cents a name, now, people give that and better information freely out on the Internet.

Years ago I helped create a computer system that could target exactly who would buy a Buick or black women’s shoes. Today, Facebook, et al., allows us to link millions of people together and we can find demographic information instantly. “Give me a list of all 22-24 years old liberal Democrats that love this particular brand of clothing and have incomes above $25k.” No problem. “Give me a list of all persons that own guns, identify conservative, have strong political beliefs, appear to be Christian, are at least 35 years old, drive something other than a minivan, have few family ties, are prior military, and have less than a post-graduate degree.” Bingo. Three seconds later I’ll have that list, their pictures in many cases, and know who their friends and co-workers are, where they work, where they last vacationed, what guns they own, etc. Piece of cake.

The temptation to use this to compile and target an enemies list, for a decapitation purge, will be practically irresistible to statist would-be tyrants.

Just that pesky 2nd amd standing in the way...

Easily done. As we said years ago, they’ll never arrest a political dissident, they’ll call you a Domestic Terrorist first. They’ll never take your hunting rifle, they’ll call it a Sniper Rifle first. They’ll never take your preps, they’ll call it Hoarding first. They’ll never shut down your community church, they’ll call it a Militia Training Camp first.

And they might just post your personal information on leftwingnutjobslookingtokillahater dot com.

Then they can act surprised when you are killed by a “random lunatic.”
