Im a Bristol Palin fan. I think the young Christian woman is a role model for teen-aged girls (and boys) whove overcome bad decisions in their lives.
Bristols backstory will no doubt be familiar to most of those who tune in to her new reality show, Lifes a Tripp, which premiers tonight on Lifetime network.
She became a single mom at 18 years old, the highest-profile teen pregnancy of the year, declared the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.
Thats because, unlike the other 440,000 or so teen-age girls who gave birth in 2008, Bristols mother was not only the governor of Alaska, but also the suddenly famous Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States.
At a time when young Bristol almost certainly would have preferred anonymity, her private life was out in the open for the whole world to see. And because her mom was not only Republican, but also conservative, Bristol found herself the subject of many unkind attacks.
But Bristolproved herself more than a conqueror, through her Christian faith.
While she accepted that her pre-marital sexual relationship with boyfriend Levi Johnston was wrong in the eyes of God, she did not compound her sin by aborting their unborn baby.
And while she hoped to marry the father of her son Tripp, and get their relationship right with God, she ultimately decided that it was better to be a single mom than to wed a neer-do-well like Johnston, whos most noteworthy life achievement was a 2010 semi-nude pictorial for Playgirl magazine.
Now 21 years old, Bristol has come into her own. The trials, the tribulations she has faced since she was pregnant with Tripp have drawn her closer to Christ; made her a stronger, more confident young woman.
Bristols 2010 appearance on ABCs Dancing With the Stars proved to be her coming out party. Defying expectations, she made the finals of the competition, an unlikely outcome she attributed to faith and prayer (not to mention the overwhelming support she received from the voting public).
Like her mom, Bristol has found herself the target of haters. Like Stephen Hanks, the obnoxious homosexual who shouted sexual obscenities at the young Christian woman while she was shooting an episode of her Lifetime show at a Hollywood restaurant.
Bristol, the Pistol, did not shrink from battle with the hater. She got in the homosexuals grille. And she gave him no quarter.
It is because Bristol puts on the whole armor of God each day that she has the boldness to confront the vile and wicked, like Hanks. I know that God is on my side, she said on ABCs Good Morning America. And my faith is everything to me.
Has she claimed to be Christian?
“the young Christian woman”
Huh? I have not seen any evidence or heard that she is a Christian. She is probably a very nice person but that does not make you a Christian.
She has indeed.
The airing of her new show tonight certainly has some of the old cows & sows on the left all stirred up. I’ve seen a few posts on other forums attacking young Bristol just this week.
And you have to question the parents for allowing their teenage daughter to be a lone with a teenage boy, a BIG no no. But I blame the father more than Sarah for not running his house as a Christian should.
The ideal role model is one that kept herself pure until married. And is a faithful Christian. Bristol failed at that. There is always repentance and forgiveness, but as far as being a role model, she has missed that opportunity.
Is she not a role model for teen girls that have made bad decisions in their young lives, who can find forgiveness and redemption through Christ?
Isn’t she currently living with a new boyfriend?
Have you? If so, prove you are.
Provenance please.
I was not attacking her. I honestly didn’t know.
Do you live under a rock. Yeah, Bristol had pre-marital sex. Just like millions of other young women.
Bristol did not have cosmetic surgery. She had corrective surgery for a degenerative mandibular condition.
Your questioning of “parents allowing their teenager daughter to be alone with a teenage boy” is beyond stupid. In her book, she said she lied to her parents when she went camping with Levi and another couple.
I don’t think Bristol cares whether you forgive her or not, but she knows God has. She’s a perfect role model. Who’s better than someone who made a mistake, took responsibility for it, and held her head high?
I don’t know if you have kids or not, but if you do, and they’re teenagers or young adults, they will make mistakes and they’ll do things you’re not aware of.
You present yourself as a poor example of a Christian. Judge not, lest ye be judged.
As for her not being a 'good Christian' therefore shouldn't be listened to, what about the power of forgiveness? If God offers forgiveness to sinners when they ask, who are we to deny it?
Do you have a problem praying forgive us our sins as we have forgiven others in the Lords prayer?
Please re-read my post. I talk about role models. Forgiveness has nothing to do with the subject.

There is a HUGE difference between judging someone and making a decision about their moral qualities. The only type of testimony she could possibly have a is someone who should have listened to and obeyed her parents.
Bristol clearly had a chin implant put in. Major jaw surgery would take months to heal.
And as far as judgement is concerned I will leave that up to God.
Put down the cool-aid...
Role models for real humans are those who have stumbled, gotten up and put their lives on a better path and overcome. Those who have never stumbled are going to and are not role models to those who do stumble. There is only one who never stumbled. Ill take a person who has stumbled and overcome to turn their lives to something positive any day over someone who appears to never have stumbled. The Lords Prayer asks to be forgiven as we have forgiven others. Holding someones past faults against them is not forgiving especially if they have had the strength of corrector to turn their failures into a teaching moment for those who are at risk of making those same mistakes. I for one am more impressed by someone who has risen from their youthful indiscretions and become an example to others than I am of someone who purports to never have failed.
Yeah, Bristol’s a horrible role model. We need more Kardashian sisters...oh, wait, no, we actually don’t. Those girls are absolute freakin’ hot messes.
