"Gun-control advocates are noticeably silent when crime rates decline. Their multimillion-dollar lobbying efforts are designed to manufacture mass anxiety that every gun owner is a potential killer. The statistics show otherwise.
Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that violent crime decreased 4 percent in 2011. The number of murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults all went down, continuing a pattern."

"If the gun grabbers were right, wed be in the middle of a crime wave, considering how many guns are on the streets. Firearms sales have increased substantially since right after the 2008 election, said Bill Brassard, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which represents the $4 billion firearms and ammunition industry. There was a leveling off in 2010, but now were seeing a surge again.

More government, less freedom = a safe public, freedom and less government = death is the mindset of a gun grabber.

I wouldn't argue with the latter half of that headline, but you know the old saw, there's lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Here's the lead paragraph from a thoughtful, and long, article by a blogger living in NYC, IIRC, who follows violent crime matters closely. There are plenty of stats running from late 70s through 2011, and links to info going back even further.
That crime in America is decreasing is a critical Main Stream Media meme. Many factors are at work. One of them is that official statistics have become, to a significant but undetermined extent, a manufactured illusion.

Exactly why Jesse and Al are emphatically opposed to stand-your-ground laws.

I was conceived in the state of Ohio that is in the United States of America. I will not give up my rights and freedoms to the United Nations and that goes for my ownership of my guns. The United Nations is not part of USA and if they are looking for a fight there a population of gun owners that will put up a fight for freedom.
My advice to the United Nations start packing your bags if not you are looking for a new revolution that would show we are on the -——>RIGHT SIDE.

Sounds something like the quote here by Admiral Yamamoto, debunked at a lefty
website.
"
Advocates of gun rights often argue that in World War II Japan was deterred from invading the U.S. mainland by a fear of American citizens with guns in their closets. They frequently quote Japans Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto as saying: "You cannot invade mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."
Whatever the exact nature of his views on the Americans he knew he Japanese were asking for big trouble. Here's an interesting article on
Operation Vengeance, developed to carry out Roosevelt's order to "get Yamamoto". The planes used for the 1000 mile round trip were P-38 Lightnings.
