"Seriously."

"First, there was the Trayvon Martin boondoggle a few months ago."

"Then yesterday, evidence of some creative editing regarding Mitt Romney’s visit to a Wawa in Pennsylvania."

"Today, we have Andrea Mitchell’s spectacularly lame followup to “criticism of the Romney clip edit” — which amounted to Ms. Mitchell saying, with a sigh and a frown, “Oh, bother. Fine. Here’s what we left out.” She failed to acknowledge what the “criticism” entailed; she neglected to point out how the editing misrepresented the event being covered; and she offered nothing resembling an apology or an admission of responsibility for something that was, as a matter of fact, irresponsible."

"First, there was the Trayvon Martin boondoggle a few months ago."

No, that was "second".

"First" was two decades ago when they rigged/sabotaged the GMC pickup truck to explode on impact, then ululated "GMC pickup trucks explode on impact!".

Seriously.

First, there was the Trayvon Martin boondoggle a few months ago.

Then yesterday, evidence of some creative editing regarding Mitt Romney’s visit to a Wawa in Pennsylvania.

Today, we have Andrea Mitchell’s spectacularly lame followup to “criticism of the Romney clip edit” — which amounted to Ms. Mitchell saying, with a sigh and a frown, “Oh, bother. Fine. Here’s what we left out.” She failed to acknowledge what the “criticism” entailed; she neglected to point out how the editing misrepresented the event being covered; and she offered nothing resembling an apology or an admission of responsibility for something that was, as a matter of fact, irresponsible.

I’m tired. Truly. I’ve grown weary of trying to defend the indefensible and explain the inexplicable. For years, people have stomped their feet and pounded their fists and snorted “Liberal media bias!” and I’ve always tut-tutted and shooshed them and said, “No, no. Calm down. They meant well. It was just a misunderstanding. A mistake. These things happen.” I spent over 25 years working in the oft-reviled Mainstream Media and I saw up close and personal how the sausage was made. I knew the people who wielded the knives and wore the aprons, and could vouch (most of the time, anyway) for their good intentions.

But now?

Forget it. I’m done. You deserve what they’re saying about you. It’s earned. You have worked long and hard to merit the suspicion, acrimony, mistrust and revulsion that the media-buying public increasingly heaps upon you. You have successfully eroded any confidence, dispelled any trust, and driven your audience into the arms of the Internet and the blogosphere, where biases are affirmed and like-minded people can tell each other what they hold to be true, since nobody believes in objective reality any more. You have done a superlative job of diminishing what was once a great profession and undermining one of the vital underpinnings of democracy, a free press.

Good job.

I just have one question:

What the hell is wrong with you guys?

Must read? C’mon now. This is why we hate going to bloggers sites. youre analysis is shallow, your points are predictable and I can get better stuff on AM radio. Post entire article.

Don’t watch the Olympics. You won’t be supporting a POS network, and you don’t have to listen to Bob Costas.

Why in the heck is anyone surprised? NBC has a long history of making things up, faking stories, and just outright lying if it met NBC's political agenda.

I'd just like to remind everyone that NBC News doctored stories of police officers killed by "cop killer bullets" (an outright lie) and ran a "news report" on it, which revealed the fact that cops were beginning to wear body armor. Police organizations, and even a notoriously anti-gun NY pol BEGGED NBC NOT to run the report. They did, and the number of cops murdered because they had been shot in the head increased.

And then there was their "report" of a fishkill in NY showed footage from somewhere else. And finally, who can forget their hooking up incendiary devices to "report" that pickup trucks would burst into flames with the slightest impact.

Plain and simple: NBC are liars, and they've been solidly up Obama's ass so deep that Andrea Mitchell can see out Obama's nostrils.

This is the actually the fourth time they have caught:

1 Rigged GM truck explosion

2 Altered Video to hide the fact that it was a black tea partier was carrying an weapon at a town hall meeting, while the anchor implied white violence was imminent.

3 Zimmerman tape selective editing

4 Romney tape

Need to add:

5 The slandering of Richard Jewell during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was the security guard who found a bomb. NBC blamed him for setting the bomb.

NBC Checklist:

If any story reflects badly on the Obama administration, we will not report it.

If any story about Obama somehow 'grows legs', we will report it but only if we can spin it positively for Obama. Refer to the DNC talking points for assistance.

The next step for the mediots is to stop acknowledging their actions in any way when they get caught.

It won't be long now. They will run completely faked stories and ignore all criticism.

Right now, they still think that their friends care, but once they can all agree to ignore criticism they will all do it. And I'm not talking mere bias or little lies, I'm talking BIG lies told boldly.

Don't be surprised, its coming.

That's one great rant. You're right - they threw it away - all the credibility built up over the years... threw it away for one political party.

Here's the real story that needs to be written - what made them do it? Group think? Fake letters? Brown nosing? Fighting for 'prized' rather than the respect of their readers and viewers? Arrogance? Being elitist - totally out of touch with real people? What? what could make people destroy an honorable profession - for nothing...
