Watch this if you didn't see it live.
This was the weirdest press conference by a defense attorney after losing a trial I have ever seen!
He praised the jury's verdict!
He agreed with their verdict!
He said the verdict was fair!
Is this incompetence? OR...
WAS THAT A SET-UP FOR A 'POOR COUNCIL' APPEAL?
DID THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY JUST FALL ON HIS SWORD?
DID THE DEFENSE JUST TAKE A DIVE?"
More importantly, where are the rainbow posse protesters?
DID THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY JUST FALL ON HIS SWORD?
No. It's more likely that he's sending a signal to the judge and his colleagues that Sandusky admitted his guilt in private.
DID THE DEFENSE JUST TAKE A DIVE?
No.
Sounds like pretty standard stuff to me.
Thank and praise the judge and jury because you just might plead another case in front of them.
He said, while we were waiting for the verdict, something like he’d die of a heart attack if his client receives no convictions.
Appeals will have no chance. Sandusky got a fair defense. This was a strong, strong case.
The basis of the defense was that Sandusky was flawed, with a disorder. To establish that he has been healed, or recognizes the depravity he perpetuated on others and seek mercy, he must first establish the perimeter of the offenses. The weakness in his approach is that the victim list increases every time a new perimeter is established.
This case will generate a large income stream for years once the civil cases start coming through the courts.
It is startling how one man who allows darkness to rein can cause so much damage... And sad how this experience is not so different from a lot of initiates into alternative lifestyles.
I only listened to the first five minutes, and heard nothing out of the ordinary. The reasoning behind recommending that Sandusky not testify appears to be sound, but it involves dry, rules-of-evidence type stuff that some might not fully understand.
I watched it and what else could he say. I know my client is a child rapist and was protected by Joe and Penn State
Posters who don’t see anything out of the ordinary -
Just for the record, did you watch the WHOLE thing? All 10 mins? Did you hear his answers during the last 5 mins? I’ve seen the losing side’s presser many times. I know the loser sometimes refrains from calling the judgement of a jury, judge or opposition team into question but this struck me as very different. He almost seemed to be saying the verdict was right, his client IS guilty as charged, everyone did their job perfectly including the jury AND the prosecution, there were no procedural mistakes of any kind... but we plan to appeal.
What?
As a lawyer, that’s exactly my view, unless he was falling on his sword and trying to give Sandusky a chance of claiming inadequate representation for a shot at a new trial. I would have expected him to say something like: “We have seen a number of errors, will be fully reviewing the record, and will file a timely appeal based on all the information we discover and develop. Thank you for your attention.”
Agreed, it was weird. Almost as if the guy was glad he was convicted, and maybe he was, but if it wasn’t a deliberate move on his part, it was very unprofessional.
He should be sued for malpractice for that interview he gave before the jury verdict.
Here’s what I heard - The prosecution had overwhelming evidence but if we had more time we could have come up with a defense that didn’t include having to prove his innocence.
This is why the public HATES lawyers.
“Lots of people have been executed and later proved to be innocent”.
That is a lie. In fact just a couple of weeks ago the first such case in HISTORY, after YEARS of trying to find one, was announced.
That's the first thing I though of last night . . . trying to get another trial for this monster so they can wring those kids through the wringer again. Are they sickos or what?
I really hope someone gets to the 6'4" monster and rearranges a few bodily parts . . . real soon, too!
Well before the verdict even came in he said that if his client was acquitted he would probably have a heart attack. This guy needs to go on the comedy circuit.
These defense attorney’s are probably so grossed out by their own client they wanted him put in prison.
