Sarah Palin: Celebrating America, Palin Style
A Time For Choosing ^ | July 3, 2012 | Gary P. Jackson

Posted on 07/04/2012 12:33:58 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Trig and I are gearing up to watch Piper Indi march in the “big” annual 4th of July parade tomorrow with her cousins in Wasilla! (Yes, Piper’s middle name “Indi” is short for Independence.) Todd picks up Bristol and Willow to fly them over to Bristol Bay so they can get their hands dirty on our commercial fishing grounds – the season’s peak is soon and we’re praying for an onslaught of wild Alaskan salmon to slay for appreciative consumers and a huge harvest for our young crew that needs to make some money for school tuition!

Willow celebrates her birthday during this holiday week, and she gets a tank of gas in her pickup truck; it’s her favorite gift. Glad it’s Tuesday because we’ll get to tune in to Bristol’s show “Life’s a Tripp” on the Lifetime Network tonight amidst Piper’s parade preparations… I think it’s the episode where the girls attend the CPAC conference with me and we have a wild time with great friends and patriots! Tune in tonight to see Willow’s profound advice she shares on my politics.

Thinking about our son and all of America’s deployed troops and our vets who let us celebrate our great nation’s independence. Thank you, U.S. military, for serving there so we can celebrate here. We love America and we thank those who serve and sacrifice.

Happy 4th of July, America!

If you like Tim McGraw’s new pickup truck anthem “Truck Yeah“, you’ll understand my kids’ love of their rigs. Here’s one of the girls’ trucks; it explains why they’re expected to work for a full gas tank.

Sarah’s even looking to lower the cost of wild Alaskan salmon! Now that’s a patriotic girl! Last time I looked, it was $31 a pound.

Love ya, Sarah!

We've been enjoying wild caught sockeye salmon for under $10/pound lately.

It's great on the grill. Yum.

I had to stow all my King fishing gear away for maybe next year. Fish and Game pretty much locked down the whole state to restrict King fishing, we had one place called the Deshka River nearby that had some pretty good fishing but the boats I have access to is either too big or the smaller has engine problems, cannot afford to fix it.

No fishing this year. Now off shore its different but shadowed by reports the halibut is off flavor this year, called “mushiness”.

And last my biggest gripe is that in the Wasilla area we have seen only TWO days of real summer looking temperatures!

Its been cold in the lower 60’s, overcast, rain everyday.

But then thats actually not too bad as wildfires can and do occur often during the summer.

What’s is sockeye? I noticed that it was cheaper at Wegman’s so I bought some. I think it was $21 per pound. This was last month. The fishmonger told me the prices would come down as the season gears up.

It's almost at the end of its fishing season now, we got our last batch for $7.99. It has a distinctive deep reddish color, almost iridescent. Here's a small description from Nat. Geographic: http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/fish/sockeye-salmon/

The scuttlebutt is that there will be a mutiny, the captain is off chasing the great healthcare whale and the crew won’t have any part of it and are discussing ways to keep him in port next time America sails.
