Many Republicans decry the president's Affordable Care Act, but many of them like parts of the law. And don't forget that the GOP enacted its own huge medical entitlement under George W. Bush. ...

There are many RINO Republicans, That is the problem.

I doubt very much that with this bunch we now have we will ever get rid of Obamacare. I am just hoping they can slow it down a might.

I don’t buy into this. The American people do not deserve what they are getting. It’s force.

My Republican representative is already talking about keeping the part where your kids can stay on your policy forever and the part where you can't be declined for a preexisting condition.

We're screwed.

That's the difference between Republicans and conservatives. Republicans supported Bush's huge medical entitlements. Conservatives did not.

I agree with your assessment.
By the time my kids were 26, they had (or working on) their MBAs and bought their first house.
Twenty six IS NOT a child.

Yes.

Obamacare is here to stay.

Why do you think Pelosi, Reid and Obama are smiling in every picture?

You’ll pay your tax and like it.

And for those who say “no” - what are you going to do to stop them?

The Republic is dead. We sold it for some warm fuzzies.

Sorry.

We are all going to be slaves of the government until we rise up and throw off the yoke of tyranny as our forefathers did !!! Can't come soon enough !!!

Freebies have never been repealed. The best anyone can hope for is a “rollback”. The RINOs don’t have the intestinal fortitude nor the backbone to fight the socialists.

While I am realistic, I really hate these defeatist articles. Why even try then? Is that the message? Or is it just bitching for the sake of bitching? We have to fight and keep the pressure on, period. Or else we will end up in a Socialist Hellhole with 100% taxes on “the rich” (meaning everyone who isn’t living off the public teet) and stagnant growth.

A benefit, once granted is seldom repealed. Doubt if this time around will be any different.

When I was 26 I not only paid my own insurance, I paid my own rent, was married, and had a child.

Tell that to the millions of Soviet Union citizens that were getting paid benefits by the communists. Governments come and go. DC is already bankrupt, which is why they are making these tyrannical power grabs. The last gasps from a dieing Empire. IMHO.

It’s definitely not going away. I’d be shocked if it was repealed and who knows what Romney’s “replacement” would be.

Haven’t you noticed? FR has become a clearinghouse for whining and complaining. No backbone allowed.

defeatist articles?? Nope, just facing cold reality.

It is very hard to objective view reality at times. I can't think of a society that was once free, that then transitions to a massive welfare/socialistic system, stop and start moving back towards Liberty (in a peaceful manner)?

I can't name one, can you?

The Federal leviathan is moving towards eventual collapse and there is nothing we can do to stop it. The inertia is too strong at this point.

I believe there are only two ways out: (1) is a total, absolute collapse or (2) Enough States develop leadership that move to legally and Constitutional roll back all unconstitutional functions of government.

No society "transitions" from Socialism to Freedom. Those in power never allow that to happen. When and if the States move to severely rollback the Federal government, to be successful it must be done in short order and in a sweeping manner.

For example, the EPA would be eliminated, all employees fired and their pensions revoked. All Federal buildings previously containing the EPA must be sold into private hands. It is only proper that the evil political class and the sadistic parasites they hire to tortures face the reality of the damage they have done to our Liberties and our Happiness.

This process would be repeated across most other departments.

A number of other steps must be taken, among them: repeal of the 17th Amendment, followed by the 16th amendment.

Realistically, none of this will likely happen. Our Founders all wrote of the nature of government -- as a necessary EVIL. It will soon (within 10 years) be an intolerable one.

Jefferson was correct when he wrote in 1788,

The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground.

Was speaking of USA, not USSR. We had/have a better credit rating than they. Otherwise we would not be so far in debt...If the welfare state breaks here, I would not want to live in any of our major cities, and many secondary ones!

FR has become a clearinghouse for whining and complaining. No backbone allowed.

Huh?? what does your second sentence have to do with the first???

The cold reality is that the Statists are successfully marching through our institutions. They are destroying our Republic before our very eyes.

And you think people are wrong to complain and write about it? Yes, we vote for Conservatives and hope for the best.

Get a backbone?? Please explain to me exactly what this is in regards to a forum whereby we communicate through the written word??

The Freepers that are delusional are the ones who think if we elect Mitt, win the Senate and keep the House, then all will be fine. No, that would be a hopeful sign but only the beginning.

Reagan nudged us back towards Liberty for a while. Since then, government at all levels have been growing relentlessly. That is the reality we face.

And on a written forum there is nothing wrong with people expressing frustration and "whining" a little. It acts as a pressure release value.

Yes, it is disheartening at times to read all the negativity, but the simple fact is that the left is on the verge is attaining their goal of "fundamentally transforming" America.

Sorry for being so negative :) LOL. p.s. It's fun to complain!!
