What I Miss About America
American Thinker ^ | July 12, 2012 | Stella Paul

Posted on 07/12/2012 8:18:36 AM PDT by Trafalgar123

Here are just a few of the things I miss since America entered the golden age of Hope and Change in January 2009.

o Optimism

o Going for minutes, hours, even days, without worrying about what weird insanity the government is dreaming up next

o Having money

o The Border Patrol

o Looking up at the moon and thinking, "America - we own space!"

o Having a president whose background isn't more closely guarded than the formula for Coke

o Going on vacation without the TSA auditioning me for "Stella Does Dallas"

o Jobs

o Not feeling like I have to whisper, if I say something that's not completely, 100% complimentary about our president

o Listening to the latest rant against Israel at the UN, without wondering if it's coming from the American Ambassador

o Feeling protected

o Having a president who doesn't want to fundamentally transform me

o Getting a doctor's appointment right away and not thinking, "That was nice while it lasted."

o Having a president who would never, ever bow to the Saudi king, the Chinese premier, the Japanese prime minister and the mayor of Tampa

o Gazing up at the sky and not wondering if that's a bird or a drone

o Snacking on whatever I want, while the First Lady remains calm and indifferent

o Having a president who thinks it would be unimaginably crazy to bring the 9/11 conspirators to New York for a civil trial

o Privacy

o Separation of State and Media

I miss not thinking my government is the enemy. I miss not feeling helpless over my rights and liberty—that I am not represented or that my representative and myself are out numbered. I miss being oblivious to how *not free* we really are.

Amen Brother:

I don’t feel as if I am represented by anyone in Government.

Neither party has a politician that I trust.

If Obamacare is good enough for me—why isn’t it good enough for Congress and the President.
Perhaps we need a quota system in Congress.
At least 50% of them should have a net worth of less that $250,000 dollars. Perhaps then they would understand that Americans are struggling.Being represented by Millionaire’s is just not getting the message through.

I miss:

1. A firm believe that America is defending its sovereignty.
2. Having a President who believes in America as a “Shining City on a Hill.”
3. The America that had a moral compass, rather than a political windvane.
4. Having the belief that America is truly #1 in the world.
5. Knowing our friends, allies and neutrals respected us and our adversaries feared us.
6. The days before “political correctness.”

I miss having someone or some party in the government that seems to genuinely represent my traditional, conservative views, and I miss having a surrounding culture that isn’t a degenerate sewer which constantly spits in my face and holds contempt for every value I hold dear.

On a more positive note, if the whole country crashes-and-burns at this point, it does seem like far less of a loss than it would have been previously.

I miss buying a gun and not worrying if it will put me on a list with DHS. Also miss not wondering if it will be the last one I buy legally.

I miss the Worldview of our Founding Fathers-—which is being destroyed and replaced by the godless, socialist, selfish worldview of the German Postmodernists—where you can not trust anyone—even your own children.

Virtue (Justice, Wisdom, Perseverance, Duty, Temperance, Humility, Patriotism) is no longer taught to our children, since Dewey and many parents have split or have to work full-time, so leave the formation of their children’s minds to strangers (TV) where the worldview of atheism/socialism/narcissism/self-gratification is taught 24/7.

Culture and Values should be transmitted by parents and family—never TV and strangers and atheists so we form decent human beings.

There is no decency in leftists. None. They can’t even reason since they are useful idiots and brainwashed and the Marxists who know what they are doing are pure evil.

So the Christian worldview of our children is being replaced with the morals of gutter snakes who live for the instant gratification and selfishness and care nothing for the weak and helpless. They are out for utopia-—eliminate everyone who doesn’t “think” like themselves or will contribute to the collective cesspool.

Spot on. I'd add the same comment about anyone of any "Protected Minority", which amounts to everyone except straight Asian and White males.

I miss being able to honestly criticize people and their behavior without worrying about whether they might be members of a protected class, and whether my words might be held against me by a government agency or by an employer.

I miss the days when Christmas trees proliferated in public spaces, and teachers sang carols along with their students, and felt joy in doing so.

I miss going to the movies and not having my intelligence insulted, my senses assaulted or my beliefs mocked.

I miss the America which celebrated independence - and meant it.
