I just got back from the event. I think your estimate is correct. I would estimate 50,000 in the stands and 7,000 on the main floor.
It was great!!! Even the policeman were smiling. Many kids and families were there.
Wow. BTTT.
I still have a smile on my face and foggy eyes. No one who hasn’t seen the show will understand. Check out theblaze.com for highlights, but to experience the whole thing, go to GBTV.com, sign up for a two-week trial. You can cancel immediately after watching what you choose without costing you a ¢.
Were you there in person?
I, and my whole family, were there.
They said they had 34,000 volunteers for their “Day of Service” (yesterday).
They said that they filled 11 semi trucks full of food for 11 city food banks.
It was a pretty good event, bottom line was Glenn’s “call to arms”, as in, honor God and continue the service.
I hate to be a picky jerk, but I’m tired of people not using the total truth when it comes to a location.
Cowboy stadium has NEVER been in Dallas. The first was in Irving and the new one is in Arlington. But then again both NY football teams play in New Jersey.
Sorry, just a pet peeve.
Super! It was great to see so many families!
My family could not make it, but I got a hug from a Grandma from Kansas sitting next to me!
Yes. There’s no way to describe the experience.
I live in Arlington and helped pay for Jerry’s Palace. Still and all, most TV commentators are starting to give recognition to Arlington instead of Dallas (DFW is semi-acceptable). However, I do appreciate your correcting the record.
Part of the confusion is the Restoring Love/Dallas event was held over four days with events in Arlington, Dallas, and Hurst. There was an event at the AAC in Dallas as well as some private movie showings in Hurst. The grand finale event was tonight at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The pictures in this thread are all from the event tonight.
I opened the Arlington Sheraton in 1985, don’t know what it is now. It was an old city water park. It was between the old Rangers stadium and Six Flags. The city, at the same time, built a “convention center” just south.
Most all the land south of the interstate in that area was empty or very old, dying buildings.
I left to open another hotel in Raleigh in about 1988.
You should come back. Texas needs folks like you. The area is now a vibrant hub of entertainment. We paid off our investment in Rangers Stadium a few years back. Jerry’s Palace was accomplished with minimal city investment (about $350k if I recall). Having 2 of 4 major sports teams in the DFW area call Arlington home is priceless (assuming we can train the idiots to give us credit).
I loved Glenn giving the $2M+ Honus Wagner card to a young boy to keep for 20 minutes. A few jokes were made, but the card was returned. That says a lot about America.
35,000 people out serving the community including 11 semi’s of food to 11 cities.
Free Pac thursday night AA Center
Meeting at Westboro Baptist Church Friday night.
AH..................remembering it was only yesterday when the liar and chief was able to pull these kind of numbers.
