If a Republican said this, the media would rightfully brand it anti-Semitism
Israel Matzav ^ | 7/29/12 | Carl in Jerusalem

If a Republican accused Jews of voting for a Democrat because they're rich people and want a tax cut, what do you think the reaction would be? I think that Republican would rightfully be branded an anti-Semite. But when a Democrat makes a comment like that, it slips right under the media's radar range. Especially when the Democrat is none other than Queen Nancy Pelosi.

Let's go to the videotape. The part I want you to see is between 6:00 and 7:50. More below the fold.

More antisemitic racist stereotyping from Arun Kapil an American living in France who votes in our elections and French elections.

“Still voting like Puerto Ricans”

Referring to the despicable antisemitic racist stereotype that “ Jews live like Episcopalians, but vote like Puerto Ricans”

Racial, religious and ethnic stereotyping is dangerous. Pouring fuel on the fire, especially in France with it’s vile history of anti-Semitism that obviously still lives on.

Stupid people like that remind me of Pierre Laval, one of the Worst Frenchmen in History.

Funny, he doesn’t look French!

France’s history with the Jewish people is despicable and unfortunately ongoing. The Socialists of today are no different. Academics, elitists, anti-Semitic, anti- Israel, pro- Islam.

Plus ça change...!

Laval was one of the worst collaborators of the Second World War, he was also a Former French Prime Minister and Socialist.

The French Apparatchiks won't be so smug when their daughters are forcibly married off to Muslim Brotherhood husbands and Charles Martel isn't their to save them this time.

What are they Thinking!?!

I wouldn't classify it as "antisemitic" nor "racist". I believe it was a candid criticism of Jewish voting patterns made by a Jewish intellectual back in the 1960s.

True, there is a long history of antisemitism in France, and it continues today, primarily with its relatively new Arab immigrants - most of whom trace their origins to the former French colonies of North Africa - and the lack of willingness of the French government to use the law to crack down on them.

I'm not minimizing it, and it is real, but viewed in its historical context and by comparisons of France to other European countries, the French have been relatively tolerant to their Jewish population. France today has the largest Jewish community in Europe and that Jewish population has remained pretty much steady over the last few decades. The fact that Jews aren't getting out of France in massive numbers, and have the opportunity to do so, is an indicator that, for the most part, they perceive themselves as relatively comfortable in their country.

Laval tried to create an ant-Nazi coalition when he led France in 1934-36. That is what made his collaboration so shocking.
