In just a few short weeks, the Chick-fil-A culture wars may gravitate toward college campuses as students across the country return to class.
Campus Pride -- the largest organization of LGBT college students nationwide -- says that it intends to use Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy's recent comments as leverage in its decade-long effort to remove the fast-food chain from college campuses.
"A lot of things have happened recently to educate college students about this company's activities. When they get back on campus, there's going to be even more direct action taking place," says Shane Windmeyer, the executive director of Campus Pride. "We want to let students know that every time they buy Chick-fil-A, they're supporting a company that funds hate groups."
Campus Pride has long opposed Chick-fil-A because of WinShape, a nonprofit founded by the Cathy family in 1984. Over the years, WinShape has given money to various anti-gay groups, including the Family Research Council -- which, as Windmeyer points out, is designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Campus Pride also intends to challenge food services contractors that offer Chick-fil-A on campuses. And the group will likely gain some traction there: Two of the three major providers -- Aramark and Sodexo -- are considered LGBT-friendly corporations by the Human Rights Campaign, and both seem to value that status.
"What Dan Cathy said, actually, I think he has every right to say. I think he has every right to own a business. In fact, I'm so glad he has finally come out as anti-gay. It makes it easier for people to choose between his company and others," says Windmeyer. "But consumers also have the right to know what groups his company funds. It's kind of funny that the same company that sells chicken with cows also claims to be Christian, yet funds hate groups. So I think they are very confused."
Hey, we’re not all pre-pubescent boys reading Playboy under the covers. And a lot of us female folks are getting very weary of all the T&A shots posted here.

Perhaps LGBT organizations should be removed form campus since they have no tolerance for any other point of view aside from their own.

Campus Pride is a REAL hate group.
I believe the Southern Poverty Law Center defines 'hate group' as any group that stands up to liberal elites. Personally, this gay group that wants to destroy a legitimate American Business BECAUSE of their religious beliefs - strike me as a "hate group'.
Maybe the definition is based on who's ox is being gored....
If I had a kid anywhere near such a university (last was Georgetown, Walsh School of Foreign Service, '90) I would give her a choice: stay and pay your own way, or change schools.

Cathy said he supported traditional marriage. He said nothing about being anti-gay or hating anyone.
If there's a hate group involved in this, it's Campus Pride.
The Left loves misinformation and hyperbole. Cathy is being painted as some monster coming to grind up homosexuals.
Instead the truth is that like the vast majority of Americans he believes in marriage. The kind practiced since written history began.
That homosexuals target the young is not surprise. There are few more ignorant than government school graduates attending colleges. They have no experience with marriage or parenting. They’ve been drained of all Christian influence and they’re susceptible to the dumbest ideas and propaganda.
I for one welcome this fight. By making campuses battlegrounds they put the educational 5th column into the bright light of day. They essentially invite a response by conservatives. Let’s expose them.
Give them the history of homosexuality. Show that it has always been a mental illness and that by politics, not science, it was “normalized”.
We’re witnessing a resurgence in interest in American history and the Founding. Let’s press forward on all fronts with logic and truth. The Left is a dissembling mess and always has been. Exposure of their idiotic and failed ideas is the cure.
