Turn Out The Lights: The Grand Old Party Is Over

That’s it. You can shut down the convention right now. It’s over. Romney’s camp just shut down all dissent, and they rigged it that way. Twitter is awash in angry tweets from people who know this was a sham. John Boehner actually wielded the gavel without a hint of a tear as he said “the ayes have it.” They didn’t have it, and I think it was pretty clear that even if they did, this was a set-up. I have news for the GOP establishment. I am voting in November. I will vote for all the down-ballot candidates who are worthy of my support. I am not going to vote for Mitt Romney. Don’t look at the page as though you’ve read the words of a man pledging treason. It was not I who rigged the primaries. It was not I who rigged the convention. It was not I who rigged the rules committee. All of those things are actual treasons against the conservatives in the America, and all of those things were carried out by Mitt Romney and his legion. I am a small matter to it, but I will have my say. If the Republican party wishes to commit suicide by Romney, they may do so, but they will do so without my help in the matter. John Boehner may have enjoyed his moment in despotic pleasure, and Reince Priebus may have been doing his masters’ bidding, but Mitt Romney had it within his power to put a stop to all of this, but when tested by circumstance, Mitt Romney’s fatal character flaws prevailed.

The Republican Party is dead. It’s time we get on with this convention and consider it a funeral. You’re witnessing a party that will now fall, and I’m going to help it on its way. Some of you diehard Republicans who read this blog may wish to find other haunts. It’s not going to be pretty. When I saw John Sununu begin to surface with regularity on Fox News over the last few weeks, I suspected the fix was in. His conduct of the RNC Rules Committee on Tuesday demonstrates that fact.

I am a person who refuses to separate his convictions from his actions and choices. Mitt Romney could have done many things to gain my support, and the support of many others, but rather than do so, he seized control. He used all his pals and buddies to take over and make the voices of grass-roots Republicans and Tea Party conservatives silent. Some will urge that we remain focused on November, and I agree, but my focus is irrevocably changed. I am out to defeat the GOP establishment in any and every form that may take.

Note to conservatives: I will understand if you swallow your pride and your principles and vote for Mitt Romney, but do not come to this site to chastise me or others who refuse to join you. Your argument had consisted of convincing us that the Romnoids wouldn’t behave this way, and at precisely that moment when they needed to prove it, they behaved precisely as we dissenters knew that they would. Save it.

Romney had his chance. Today, he blew it.

Get a grip folks - this is incremental victories for us, the true conservatives.

I agree.

I have noticed that as the Tea Party gains power and replaces establishment more and more RINOs at the local level, these MORONS come out to tell us we are losing and need to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Romney is not my preferred choice. However, it was self-professed "true conservatives" that shot holes in every other GOP candidate who had a lead in the primary while Romney was floundering and could not get above 25% support!

It is not a coincidence. We have enemies among our ranks. This author is one of them ---- either intentionally or out of his own stupidity. The same as many posters on FR.

When battling today’s democrats you must do what any tactician would do, concentrate your force. That’s what the republicans are doing.

As usual, the same group talking, once again, about how they just can’t vote for Romney. Of course, during the primaries, they didn’t work very hard for their candidate, now they are taking their ball and going home.

Don’t you worry.

The rest of us have their backs.

Agree. A vote for anyone but Romney or a non vote helps Zero stay in power. He can veto legislation or do more presidential fiats to rule the country via executive order.

Get over it. Do what’s right for the country.

“We need to vote for every CONSERVATIVE down ticket.”

Fortunately I have a rock solid conservative congressman and Pete Hoekstra is an acceptable compromise candidate for senate.

I won't vote for Romney but I will vote to strengthen our hand in congress.

"Those who refuse to vote against Obama are voting for him and for the continued decline of this nation as a display of selfish petulance. Save your whining for another time, hold your breath, and cast your vote for the side of freedom."

BOOM!...there it is. NO, Romney isn't the perfect choice, but economic theory says that all decisions are "marginal" ones. You make your best choice given the situation at hand. We don't have our dream candidate, but we can still oust the Marxist bastard. Time to stop the damned whining and get on the Romney train, because the other track leads straight to hell. Romney's all we've got right now, so MAN UP everyone. Now is NOT the time to "make a point" in the voting booth. Live to fight another day.

It will be Mitt, or it will be Obama.

Make your choice. Seriously everything else in the world is a distraction.

Mitt or Obama. That is it. With a rock-solid VP candidate.

Get ‘em next time. For example right after Mitt wins the election.

But not one second before. Obama is a complete mess.

Excellent point, RFE. They must be pretty happy and content with things the way they are, and the obvious way we’re headed into a full-blown nanny-socialist-welfare state. Pitiful, aren’t they?

“If Palin had run, she would have won, and none of this would be happening.”

If Palin had run, she would have been destroyed. Perhaps literally. Both parties are culture of death now, and the culture of death is deadly.

The only question is if you support the one which embraces overt vice, the one which trumpets fake virtue, or reject them both.

Would you rather ron paul had hijacked the convention? Because that is exactly what they were trying to do.

Loudnouth Paulites at it again.

Ron Paul supporters dispute rules changes at convention
August 28, 2012 5:24 pm
By James O'Toole / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Republican National Convention had already been buffeted by the winds of Isaac. Then, when its business session finally got under way a day late, it was rocked by waves of loud, angry protest from supporters of Rep. Ron Paul and their allies.

The targets of their ire were the pre-convention decisions of the Rules and Credentials committees that stripped the Paul forces of delegates in Maine, and buttressed the party establishment against insurgent challenges in the future.

Resolving a longstanding dispute over procedures in the Maine caucuses, the Credentials Committee last week decided to split the Maine delegation between allies of Mitt Romney and those of Mr. Paul. The effect was to deprive Mr. Paul of the majority that would have given him control of the Maine delegation.

A variety of rules changes also angered the Paul adherents who had artfully exploited party rules in Iowa, Nevada and Minnesota to gain control of those delegations even though the Texas libertarian had not finished first in any of those contests. Under revised rules approved last Friday, such states will have to change their procedures to ensure that their delegations to future conventions reflect the vote totals of their nomination contests.

snip

On one level, the disputes were inside baseball, affecting issues irrelevant to the vast majority of voters. And there is no doubt that the rules and credentials reports would have been overwhelmingly approved had they been put to a roll call of the delegates. But the noisy wrangling was a reminder of the challenge the Romney campaign has faced in maintaining the allegiance of the intensely loyal Paul forces, who, like their candidate, hold views well outside the mainstream of the GOP.

The reality is that we conservatives surround them and contrary to conventional wisdom it is not the other way around.

It sure didn't look that way yesterday in Tampa.

I really think Mitt will destroy this country faster than Obama can.

For crying out loud.

Romney won. THIS TIME.

Unlike Obama he will be attacked. Constantly. Every day. Starting today.

Support him, or get out of the way. Now. The (the very day after he is elected) we can begin our own fire for effect against Romney if warranted.

Not one day before the election however.

All of these ABR’s are a bunch of idiots and morons. I used to walk around on egg shells around these more conservative than thou types, but no longer.

These delusional fools are just as bad and dangerous as the communist obamabots since the net effect of their bs is the same outcome. I have not drunk any kool aide but understand the lethal threat of 4 more years of this hell under obama.

Not voting for Mitt is the same as voting for Obozo.

No difference. Period.

I guess you didn't bother to see what just happened yesterday. It's finished within the GOP-E.
