Scientific (Quantum) Immortality
The Freehold ^ | September 6, 2012 | Jonathan David Baird

I have long been fascinated by the idea that the universe is not actually a singular object but made up of a multiverse of infinite universes. Each of these Universes is seemingly branch off at every possible action or inaction. This idea is staggering in it’s immensity. It seems like science fiction and it has certainly been a staple of science fiction for at least forty years. It may have remained science fiction but fortunately I am not alone in believing this might in fact be possible.

I think it’s much more likely that there is something wrong with the quantum wave interpretation, than there is likely to be an infinite number of universes.

Since I define the Universe
as the total of everything that exists,
there can’t be other Universes.

The Universe is that collection of points and particles
that can in principle interact with each other
by exchanging some particle (photon, graviton, etc.)

By definition in a “Multiverse” (whatever that is)
The collection of points are not able to interact
at any any level, and as such are separate Universes.
And are "unknowable" to each other

The Multiverse concept is a null hypothesis
as any other universes cannot interact with this one we are in, in principle.
Other Universes are Unknowable

is there a universe where the Trix Rabbit is President?

Certainly! In our universe he already won an election that allowed him to finally have some Trix. A universe where the election is actually for president and not for some Trix certainly wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility.

As I reflect on it, I'd bet he's doing a better job controlling spending.

Ok. I think I understand what they're getting at regarding immortality. Each and every moment you have a chance of surviving and a chance of surviving. Therefore, you will always survive somewhere.

What about your age? I mean, can you argue that there was a chance you could have been born a day earlier? a day later? Could you have been conceived a year before when mom and dad just met and therefore be a year older?

Can you apply that same principle to your parents? Thus making you not only immortal, but existing at different ages and in different times?

chance of surviving and a chance of surviving

chance of surviving and a chance of dying.

silly rabbit.

If you went back in time to kill Hitler some how you failed because he was not killed in the past. You might be able to go back and OBSERVE things, but if you did anything in the past we already know you did.

In the "many worlds" theory, the act would simply switch you to a world timeline where Hitler DID die, and people WOULD know about it.

A recent experiment showed that quantum entanglement exists not only over space but also over time. It's possible to backdate events. These things are only possible if space and time are some kind of illusion. Einstein came to the conclusion that the past, present, and future exist simultaneously. We are somehow part of a timeless eternity.

Sadly enough, that’s probably true, lol.

Let me see if I understand this; it is acceptable to posit - without proof - the existence of a multiverse. However, it is somehow unscientific and therefore unacceptable to believe in a creator.

Somebody help me out - have I got this straight?

Actually time rate has already been shown to change with velocity. Take two matched clocks put one in a plane and then fly around. After landing the two will show different times. The one flying around is slower than the one not on the plane.

As such you can assume (provided the big bang was an explosive expanding event) that the center of the universe has “aged” more than the outer reaches since it moved more slowly from the center and thus the time was faster than the arms which moved more quickly and the “clock” moved slower.

Personally I believe this and the bending of light from such great distances due to gravity lensing is the answer to why the calculations of universal mass require the addition of “dark matter” to make things balance out with the “increasing velocity” of the outer edges of the universe.

No, that is a misrepresentation. The Multiverse concept is not represented as a foregone fact, a theory, or an hypothesis. It is instead a conjecture based upon the implications derived from the attempt to reconcile observations to the constraints of mathematics. From the theological point of view, it is an attempt to observe and describe the mathematical nature of what was created.
