FAA Officials Warn Employees About Voting GOP
Political Realities ^ | 09/08/12 | LD Jackson

Am I mistaken? Shouldn't an employee of any company be free to vote for the person, persons, or party of their choice, with no fear of reprisal from their employer? Does that not also apply to the federal government? In a story that I am surprised has not received more air time, it is coming to light that there may have been warnings from some Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials to their employees about what may happen, should they choose to vote for the GOP.

(Fox News) Two federal agency supervisors allegedly warned employees earlier this year that a Republican takeover in Washington could threaten their jobs -- comments that some workers apparently took as guidance on "how to vote" and that one group claims may have violated federal law.

Nonprofit watchdog Cause of Action wrote a letter Wednesday asking the Department of Transportation's inspector general to launch a probe into the incident, involving senior officials with the Federal Aviation Administration. The incident occurred in May during a meeting at the FAA's Seattle office, according to the letter.

Emails obtained by FoxNews.com show one FAA employee recalling what John Hickey, deputy associate administrator for aviation safety, said at the meeting.

"I would not be able to quote Mr. Hickey (sic) exact words but what I took out of it was, if the conservative (Republicans) gain control of congress then the FAA could be looking (at) as much as a 15% cut in budget and we (may) be looking at furloughs. If the liberal Democrats take control of congress then we would be looking at a flat budget," the email said. "In short if the Republicans win office our jobs may be (affected) ... if the Democrats win office then our jobs would not be (affected)."

I can not count the ways in which such actions are improper and just plain wrong. I have no idea which political party these officials belong to, but that doesn't really matter. What does matter is implication that these officials were so bold that they felt the liberty to attempt to "persuade" their employees and to direct them how to vote. This smells like a labor union tactic to me. Is there no end to the depths they will stoop to make sure of their victory in November?

sounds like managers I had that tried to force me to pay into ‘The United Way’(where about 90% of the funds goes to maintain the ‘offices’ and cushy lifestyle of the heads of this false charity),

In my day the military was famous for this type of coercion. It was made quite clear that the outfit had to have 100 percent participation and that holdouts were going to be sorry.

Yes these supervisors are in violation of the Hatch Act.
They need to be identified prosecuted during the Romney administration. Assuming there is one, will know nothing will happen if the Zero administration continues!

Did they try to put a monthly donation vampire on your paycheck? They did me, but I had proof of no bank account since I didn’t direct deposit.

It would be safe to say that any federal employee should be regarded the same way as if you met someone on a street in Detroit at 3am.

They no longer are public servants who are providing the very limited services outlined in our Constitution but almost exclusively are working for the communist party (if they know it or not) and only have their interests in mind.

The more gov. employees the dems can hire, the closer they will be to the tipping point where the real producers of society can no longer out vote the teat suckers.

Ahhh... I remember that.

They only measured participation percentage, so one easy solution was to donate 50 cents a week...:^)

LOL ! That reminds me of a manager I had in my last company. He demanded we give to United Way and he even mentioned his bonus depended on it. He was a real jerk to me from day one when he took over as manager. I got called into his office and he demanded I give money to them and when I said no, he got livid. I walked out of his office and mentioned HR to him. That kind of shut him up.

15% cut works for me. Make the cuts politically based, i.e., hardcore RATS are at the top of the list.

The FAA would be more efficient and spend less time dreaming up mandates if it were smaller.

Inquiry Starts at F.A.A. Over Remark on Budget
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

WASHINGTON — A senior Federal Aviation Administration official told subordinates there would be budget cuts that could lead to furloughs if Republicans held control of Congress, and federal investigators are determining whether the remarks constituted political pressure to vote for Democrats, a person with knowledge of the inquiry said on Saturday.

Oh I remember that. When I worked at AT&T fresh out of college 25 years ago, I got tagged to be my group’s UW “coordinator” one year. It was made clear that our performance in UW contributions would enter into my salary appraisal at the end of the fiscal year...not a big part, but still a part nevertheless. So I went through the motions, got around 80% participation (NOT including myself!), and never heard anything about it again.
