Whoomp there it is: polling results just up at the National Journal, comparing samples taken on Tuesday vs Thursday, book-ending the debate night:
Tues Oct 2: Obama 49 Romney 45 Obama +4
Thurs Oct 4: Obama 46 Romney 47 Romney +1
(Clarus Research/590 Likely Voters/4% margin-for-error)
Anxiously awaiting more of the same...
Another interesting development is absentee ballot requests: as noted at Ace of Spades, Iowa is running a D+77,000 margin at this point in time. Yet while the media keeps telling us this is gonna be 2008-The-Sequel, ballot requests were at D+100k just a week ago, and the trend ain't their friend Democrats enjoyed a +150k cushion in 2008 (but only about 60k more in 2004, when the GOP held-on the White House, roughly the same as today).
And from a Republican perspective, things sound almost too good to believe in the major battleground state of Ohio, where the current statewide gap in absentee ballot requests is running Dem +5.5... less than a third of what they had four years ago.

That’s tremendous.
Obama’s support was obviously soft. Ton of negative ads and disinformation. The undecided vote is coming over to Romney.
Was quite a game changer with so much at stake. God sent confusion to the enemy camp.

That is one ugly woman. I’d hate waking up next to that hatchet every morning.

But, how can the debate have shifted the polls?
Aren’t people buying the liberal excuses?
The altitude in Denver affected Obama.
Obama is not used to debating.
Presidents historically don’t do well in debates.
Romney threw so many facts and figures out there that Obama couldn’t respond to them all.
Jim Lehrer didn’t maintain control over the debate. The whole format was unfair to Obama.
Romney had a cheat sheet.
Add it all up, and we’re supposed to forget this debate ever happened, because the whole thing was unfair to Obama.
And, Chris Mathews pleaded with Obama to watch MSNBC so he can get the talking points he needs.
I was very surprised at all of the liberal excuses put out there, to somehow make it sound like this debate doesn’t count.

What makes you think he does?

Romney moves up 5% and the U3 moves down .3%.
Logically, if Romney is up by 37 pts by Nov. 1st, Obama will have cut the U3 unemployment rate to 5.6%.
Logically, only a Romney landslide can solve the unemployment problem.

That picture was taken after the debate. Michelle and Obama are looking at the beautiful Romney family. Michelle almost has daggers in her eyes.

I just read an opinion piece in our local paper written by James Rainey who is a columnist for the Los Angeles Times. It was entitled "Romney's roll: Remember John Kerry beat George W. Bush". It reminded the readers that GWB did not do very well in the first debate with John Kerry, but came back to do well in the other debates. I am not bothering to post it because reading it would insult the intelligence of the well-informed readers of Free Republic. He failed to mention the most obvious point, however. How could the "smartest man ever to run for POTUS" be so over matched by a privileged, heartless former corporate executive?

TigerClaws ?
Folks ?
Remember not so long ago how the main stream media went all Benghazi ( for those in Rio Linda, that means, going crazy, ruffled feathers, went ape-crap ) when they heard Romney talk about how there was 47% dependent on welfare, food stamps, dependent on government ? and how they wanted so badly to pretend that the number of those dependent on government was actually lower ?
Well then...... IF ? the new faked but accurate unemployment numbers reflect reality ? would not also ? the 47 % number be lower to ?

I wish they had the wide angle (no pun) shot of her whole body. With the Aunt Esther dress and scowl she looks like a bow-legged linebacker.

PSALM 37
12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.
Amen ...
