Biden’s deceptive remarks on Iran’s nuclear weapons program

Vice President Joe Biden in last night’s debate said that while Iran may have the capability to enrich uranium, it does not have a warhead and does not present a threat. There are problems with his statement.

The first is it is likely the Iranians have already designed and tested major components of a warhead using substitute (non-nuclear) materials. This was done under the direction of a Ukrainian scientist who had formerly worked at the Soviet/Russian nuclear facility Chelyabinsk-70. The November 2011 IAEA report places this test at the Parchin, Iran military base. The IAEA has repeatedly been denied access to inspect the building where he test reportedly took place. Commercial satellite photography early in 2012 documents efforts to sanitize the area....

It may be that Biden is simply parsing words to convey a falsehood. When he says Iran doesn’t have a warhead, he may be technically correct because they haven’t yet enriched the uranium to weapons grade (80 to 90%). A warhead without the fissile fuel is not a warhead. But if the remaining components are tested and ready, all that needs to be done is fabricate the two hemispheric shells of U-235 and assemble them into the warhead....

The other thing Biden misses is there is only a limited time of vulnerability for an attack to succeed....

THE GRINNING IDIOT made another disastrous claim last night that flew over many peoples head. What if this IDIOT is wrong and IRAN does have a means to deliver the weapon. Are we suppose to take this chance. I can see the GRINNING IDIOT now as the missile carrying the weapons flies over his head into a major city. Damn, they weren’t suppose to be able to do that. It that how we handle our NATIONAL SECURITY under the democratic leadership. I don’t think so.

I suspect Biden out and out lied in order to portray the 0bama regime's inaction as "no big deal", since those in the know, presumably him, know that Iran does not present a threat.

Of course one might ask if he attends [and comprehends] intelligence briefings more regularly than Hussein.

Biden and Bambi are big PHUCKING LIARS and will say anything to get reelected.....they couldnt care less if Iran goes nuclear. If Iran nukes Israel and starts WW3, they will blame everyone else and the media will parrot the lie. God save the US and Israel!

A cargo ship, airliner, etc. would suffice. It only takes one nuke to ruin your whole day.

Biden already telegraphed the ready-to-go response to the "surprise" when Iran announces they have the bomb in his Benghazi remarks. "The intelligence we had was wrong".

It's the sort of "the dog ate my homework" excuse we've come to expect from this administration. It's the executive branch's responsibility to have timely and accurate "intelligence" but "accountability" just isn't in their dictionary.

If they have to rely on the same intelligence as they blamed for misleading them on Benghazi to determine how far along Iran is with the bomb, look out.

The author makes an excellent point. What makes anyone think the Iranians don't already have the engineering done (or stolen/borrowed) and even some/most/all of the manufacturing of a warhead (or several) completed?

You don't have to wait until you've refined the oil into gasoline before you build the car. If you know the characteristics of the fuel, you can design and build all the components and be ready to go day 1 - as soon as you have the fuel.

If my memory serves me correctly, Biden never said "warhead", he said "weapon". He said, and I paraphrase, "It doesn't make any difference if they enrich uranium, if they don't have a weapon to put it in."

Now, I'm not a nuclear physicist, but given sufficient and properly enriched U-235, even I could make a weapon, not a very efficient one, to be sure, but a weapon nonetheless.

Granted, an implosion weapon would be a different story.

Given sufficient and properly enriched U-235, anybody could make a weapon.

Why isn’t this Bidenlie getting more attention?

Granted, an implosion weapon would be a different story.

Uranium weapons are gun assembled. Plutonium weapons are implosion assembled.

Therefore an implosion weapon isn’t reasonable nor necessary.

Also comparatively easy to detect Pu. U is harder.

We’re being fed a line of BS.
