The main plug before reaching FR tonight was DC. At the same time, Google and Twitter has been drinking huge amounts of bandwidht, and the clogs showed up on internetpulse.
Maybe it’s not so much a question of servers as wider pipes. Of course, Google and Twitter can afford to pay premium costs on what they need to take.
There are a couple of FRiends here who get it.
I plan to respond to every post except the annoying ones.

I DEMAND that Jim Robinson make this site work better! And I want him to give me a free phone, too.
I’m really upset. I’d like to see an explanation for why things were better in past election years. If the amount the freepathons bring in is not enough to keep thousands on the site for really big nights, it takes all the fun out of FR. There could never have been a thread on 9/11. If anything big happens this place will no longer be there for us. I donate to have it here. I donate because I want to rely on it. I can’t. So I am rethinking donating.
I would love an explanation of what the problem is, what it will cost to fix it, and other ideas like why couldn’t we have a chat room for big events? I only want to donate if there is a chance we could be here on big nights. Otherwise it’s just not the central conservative forum. It’s a forum for slow news days only.

Yes, I agree. It is maddening how slow FR gets during these times. I'm no software expert, but why couldn't FR have a chat room or something like that going on in addition to the forum? Other sites do this quite successfully (like during an NFL game). Then you could see your comments come up almost instantly.
Not zotted. Click the name and you still see the signup date, state flag and links.
I went to bed at 8pm last night and woke up early this morning to read the debate thread. I am well rested and fully informed for today. Doesn’t matter to me if it was slow or fast. FR rocks!
50mm has not posted since March.
This opus writer has not been zotted, and he or she apparently has no intention of leaving, which is fine by me.
And come on, Tunehead54! I bet a bunch that you could do a spectacular opus if you really wanted to make an entertaining thread. Not that this hasn’t been fun... [smiles]

One upside to not being able to get on FR during debates is we stop preaching to the choir. We get out of our bubble and add information that few know about to Facebook discussion threads, twitter feeds.
It has an impact. So if FR is being targeted with DOS attacks to silence us, it might be back-firing.

The last subscription I cancelled was for my local rag. I paid for one series of deliveries and then cancelled, it was simply a terrible paper. Those bastiges keep delivering it over and over and over and over. I’ve called, e-mailed and talked to the delivery dude. It will not stop coming! I just throw it in the trash...heck, my neighbor won’t even take it...
Luckly, the DUmmies haven’t sent me a bill. But I have been waiting for their try.
